Incorrect. You have a cable router.
A modem is a MOdulator/DEModulator designed to convert analogue signals to digital and vice versa. Since your cable is carrying a digital signal, there is no need for a modem. The box you have which is connected to your cable is a router, a device to allow two networks to communicate with each other, be that LAN, WAN or connecting to an ISP.

Althou Technically they are called Cable Modems
altho they are more of a network bridge. The old ones didn't have any kind of router functionality in them

The super hub was the first one that did, before that, you required a separate router if you wanted it on your network, otherwise they connected directly to your pc (can could be via USB)

They are called Cable Modems, but Technically that is incorrect.

Yes, I vaguely remember having a green thing that looked like a manta-ray/ufo which went from my NTL connection into a USB port, I think.
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

D'oh. It was an Alcatel Speedtouch USB which I had from Freeserve. Not NTL.

Are you referring to the superhub here? Doesn't it do more than just routing? Otherwise if I wanted to connect just my PC to the cable broadband, I should be able to connect an ethernet cable to VM's broadband outlet in my house with no need for the Superhub.

I think Alba and Bush both released sets in the UK (horrible things they were), which were labelled as "internet TV's" (and may have been referred to as "smart" TV's in the marketting).
    This was my first internet!
