There was a discussion on Facebook yesterday regarding the blatant use of multiple devices and running things in different browser tabs at the same time by US users, some of whom have openly encouraged others to do the same thing. I posted a response from compliance that I had read on the blog -

'Thank you for taking the time to write to Swagbucks about your concern.
We do get these questions a lot and I will try my best to assist you.
In order to stay compliant with our Terms of Service, please refrain from using more than one computer and phone/tablet at a time.
When you are using these two devices, we ask that you are engaged in the activity you are completing.
Please do not risk the closure of your account by running multiple devices simultaneously.
If the security if your job is not at risk, you are more than welcome to use your phone at work.
Please let us know if you require further assistance.'

Someone subsequently replied to my post (and not for the first time) saying that Swagbucks merely turn a blind eye to this abuse. As a result Nick, the Managing Director of Swagbucks UK, has posted this comment (the first part relates to a question regarding why the US have mobile apps and we do not) -

'Swagbucks UK - guys guys we are working on a mobile app, but this is pretty clear. if you DO run multiple devices and dont pay attention, you run the risk of your account being closed. this applies whether you are from uk, us or timbuktoo. it's not a them and us thing. if people are not focusing on the content the advertisers get no response rate and we dont get more content. you make your own decisions, but to say we turn a blind eye is not the case. we have a compliance team who come down hard, or try to come down hard on every case they can find of people abusing the system.'

Hopefully we will get a mobile app (although this has been promised for some time) but I thought that it would be in everyone's interest to understand Swagbucks' position regarding using multiple devices and multiple tabs at the same time. Of course, there is very little for us to do at the moment that would warrant trying to do things simultaneously, but on the off-chance that we should get more Encrave activities, Junvids and that elusive mobile app, then I believe it is worth noting the above as I think it does make things a little clearer than before, although of course, as Nick says, it is up to each individual to make their own decision as to what they want to do.

Thanks for that info, great to hear there will be an app at some point. Didn't think it was 'fair' how the US folk can get an easy 250 a day with an automated video app, and we have to sit and watch them individually.
  • Of course Swagbucks are going to say "No, we don't turn a blind eye and anyone caught not focusing will be dealt with" because advertisers or what have you will be watching/reading.

They do turn a blind eye and that goes in their favour as they earn $$$$ from it.

But of course, if people like you say differently on sites such as this, the advertisers will read it and know that they are lying when they say they are turning a blind eye as you know best! :)

but then if the advertisers challenge SB about such posts then SB may then have to do a big ban of many accounts ... just like they do every so often going by complaints on the usa fb page. Otherwise if advertisers keep seeing such posts in forums they would take their adverts somewhere else and we would end up with less encrave etc.

Either was it us that loose out in the end.
