Thanks Headpin.
I asked this specific question at the embassy this morning and was told that my visa is valid for ten years and when my current passport expires I should travel with both my old UK passport with the visa in it and my new UK passport.

What's an acop?0 -
Claire,
An ACOP is the police certificate that shows any unspent convictions. In my situation it showed "live no trace" because they are so old. It does mean you have had something in the past otherwise it just shows " no trace".
Cheers

glad that it all worked out for you and thank you for stopping back to explain your experience for others in a similar situation.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
