Good vs evil battle going on in my head over whether to nip to Asda today and pick one up.
LG is a good brand
It's a fairly basic set. No smart TV but it is full HD.
Any crystal ball wielding MSE'rs like to say if they think I'm likely to find another decent branded 32" TV for less than £200 in the near future? (other than localised stock clearances)

It's just another badged Supermarket cheapie. You only get what you pay for with these.0

Good picture if you turn off the Eco setting otherwise it goes really dark at night
Had no problems with mine but got it at richer sounds with the 5 year warrantyEx forum ambassador

I thought LG was supposed to be a decent brand. This model's been sold at various outlets. Amazon, Argos, Currys to name a few. I struggled to find anything but good reviews for it.
Topic is moot now anyway as I went out and bought one this morning

Google Shopping says yes.
Next cheapest is Debenhams Plus at £247.0 -
Being widely available does not mean that a product is good. Some brands of dog food are an example, where commonly available ones are packed with additives.
I don't know whether LG have improved in the last 8 years or so, but when a friend asked me to help connect her catalogue bought LG tv and vhs recorder,I was struck by how flimsy the remotes were compared to my then (and now) Panasonic. In fact I was afraid of breaking them, when trying to put in the batteries, so asked her to wait until her relative could help.0 -
Voucher man needs to realise that it isn't just the manufacturer which is important in making an informed choice. All he has bought is a cheap television, not a bargain.I don't know whether LG have improved in the last 8 years or so, but when a friend asked me to help connect her catalogue bought LG tv and vhs recorder,I was struck by how flimsy the remotes were compared to my then (and now) Panasonic.
I hope he gets years of service from this set, but it's in no way comparable to the the far more expensive LG models for which LG gets it's (deserved) reputation. Supermarkets also sell cheap TVs made by Sony who are also a well-known and respected brand.
As I said earlier, you get what you pay for...0 -
Got the 42 inch version of this today for £300 from sainsburys, can't fault it at all so far.
Got very good reviews on amazon as well.0 -
It might sound daft, but prices are inflated at the moment due to the Faux sales.Be happy...;)0

You can spot big name cheapies by looking for the model numbers on their websites. They are not listed.0

It's for in the bedroom. Not going to get used much. I'll be mostly half asleep, or half awake when I'm watching it anyway. High quality is not a priority here.Moneyineptitude wrote: »Supermarkets also sell cheap TVsYou can spot big name cheapies by looking for the model numbers on their websites. They are not listed.

Not helping the argument here though.
But, out of curiosity, not being an expert on TV specifications, how does this compare to better quality models?0
