EE broadband or not?

Hello members

I recently moved into a new property and EE broadband (not fibre) is coming to be cheapest for me. I checked and it is not a LLU provider for my local exchange. Can experts advice whether I should take the gamble or not. Any other provider someone can recommend

Thanks

If its not LLU then you can probably find better terms elsewhere.

    Thanks for your reply

I have checked all major suppliers such as BT, plus net, talk talk, virgin media, sky, primus and EE is coming out to be cheapest. Should I go with it?

If your sure its the cheapest and checked the terms and conditions.

£2.50 a month** Includes £5 discount if your a new or existing EE customer. Check to see if you need to topup £1 or more to qualify.

    Something else to ask about....

If you don't live in an EE Standard Broadband network area you can still get a broadband plan with an inclusive call package for an extra £10 each month. These plans provide a monthly data allowance of 20GB. Remember, if you’re a new customer a £30 connection charge will apply and you’ll also be charged an additional £10 for each month you exceed your data allowance

    Hi Thanks for your post

The package that is advertised now is nothing like you described. It is a lot more generous that is why I am quite interested. See below please

    Upto 16.0 Mbps
    Unlimited data
    Weekend calls to landlines
    12 months half pirce
    £2.50 a month for 12 months £5 after
    £14.75 line rental
    Free router
    Free delivery
    No one off cost either

The only issue is they are not LLU provider in my local exchange. What you will do if you are in my place.

    Thanks

Why is it a gamble, LLU broadband is not technically superior , the fact that they are quoting you upto 16mb means that it's going to be ADSL2+ so you will get the same performance as an LLU provider who offer that standard and if it's an unlimited service and the price is competitive then I would say go for it..

Some providers who dont offer a LLU option charge more or restrict the download limit.

The advert may say upto 16mb and unlimited but is that after they checked/tested your line?

The smallprint maybe the terms i posted above. You need to ask them and either record the call or get it in writing.

What speed did they say you can get? O2 offered be a faster package. But as i could barely get 4MB, I didnt see the point of getting into a new contract for upto 16MB which would still be 4MB.

imran22 I went with the EE Broadband deal you were quoted.

They have messed me about and sent the wrong confirmation (20gb limit) several times, although ensure me I am on the unlimited £2.50 deal (paying annual line rental upfront). They say the system will 'not allow' them to attach the correct contract with the confirmation email (!). Why not? It's a CONTRACT !!!!!!, it needs to be correct. I was worried about this but got someone to confirm the correct deal by email.

WARNING: They HAVEN'T honoured it! I have just been billed £19.75 by direct debit each month. I have not authorised that amount.

They cannot seem to get it right, but will just tell you anything on the phone ('it's all sorted, all correct now' etc.). They are just fobbing you off. They don't deal with it. I am sick to death of them.

Be warned, the deal sounds good, but you'll be luckier than me if you actually ever get it.

    .
  • Don't go near EE - I'm just about to cancel with them after been "connected" for nearly a month and it hasn't worked correctly yet. I've had engineers round, a couple of dozen calls to customer services, about a dozen calls from them, all to no avail.

The worst thing is that they treat you like a child - I don't know if it's because they're obviously based in asia somewhere (I guess India?) but they seem to have a script and stick to it, getting testy with you when you try to tell them that you've been through this at least three times with previous customer services reps.

The final straw for me today was getting a call from 'the supervisor' today who whilst not able to solve my current issue (this time it's a max 1mb download speed...) called to check I was doing everything correctly. I told him I'd done everything and tried all sorts of combinations - tester sockets, different microfilters etc (all of which the engineer tried when he was here before Christmas) - and he then got sharp with me and said "I'll speak simply so you can understand" before talking about disconnecting my phone then running another speedtest.

I thought this was a good time to tell him I'd worked in IT for over 13 years and had also had many previous broadband accounts. He carried on acting like he was trying to teach a dog a card trick. Never had ruder customer service.
