I would search the internet, pinterest etc and find examples of the style you like to show him so that you're not just describing exactly what you want (and leaving it up to his interpretation). To be fair there are a few pictures that I have in mind I would really like to have and will be doing this with my professional wedding photographer so don't think it is unreasonable to do this with your uncle!!
Agree with Bella, it is your day and (hopefully) you will never do it again (unless for all the right reasons) so bully him around until you get what you want. You never know, he might get upset and 'quit' lol x:j Married to the Love of my Life 02.08.2014 - Now I'm Mrs E :j

I really don't agree. He isn't doing you a favour you have been forced to have him...that really isn't the same thing.
As you have been told by whoever that he must do it, you must make a list an insist hugs follows it. It is your wedding and you won't get a second chance. You need to sort this all out well before the day.
To be honest I am probably worrying about nothing, out of my other half's family he is probably the most level headed etc. OH mother has a temper whereas he is a very nice bloke. I was worried about it until he did the photos at my OH birthday, he really has captured some wonderful unposed moments. Its the posed moments I don't like but I think thats the same for me with most photos.Money money money.

I've just had an email back from the venue, I need to hire my own table cloths. Someone had said white sheets would do it ha! But then again it depends on whether it is cheaper to hire or to buy and resellMoney money money.

Oh I also need to work out the cost of feeding guests after 7pm. I do have £1000 left of my food budget obviously do not intend to spend it and I intend to decrease it significantly.
My plan is fish and chips at 3pm, followed by cakes and strawberries and cream, scones and cream. So I need to work out the cos of the strawberries, scones and the cream.
I then need to decide how I can feed people in the evening. Now originally OH had asked for pizza but thats a bit too much. So I thought I would make sandwiches. HOWEVER
How will I keep them from melting in the august heat? The venues small fridge will be full of cream etc! So what do you think would be a cost saving munchies idea? I don't expect much to be eaten after all the cake. I had thought bacon sarnies etc but I'd have to cook them at my own wedding :S
Unless I hired someone who could cook them on demand for us
Edit: I'm thinking possibly DIY subways? Ie people make their ownMoney money money.

You could just get a caterer to bring a small buffet at the right time?
Btw bridesmaids paying for their own dresses is a big wedding faux pas. I would find the money from another area, maybe entertainment?0 -

I disagree about the faux pas, happens a lot. They weren't asked please be my bridesmaid but buy your own dress. I sat down with them to work out what I could afford and then they offered to buy their own, they have been given a colour scheme and told to buy a dress they can wear not just to a wedding. Wasn't my idea actually!Money money money.

Good one on the Olympus trips, you will get much better quality photos out of them than out of a phone camera, however that is provided the users know how to use them properly.0

I think 3% of the guests will know how to use them, I have certain people in mind to delegate the task of happysnapper too! I have a few friends who like me enjoy a good vintage cameraMoney money money.

Not all photographers can do weddings. I recently have been helping a bride who was budget conscious and chose to use a family friend who said he was a 'semi professional wedding photographer' and had photographed quite a few weddings. The photos were atrocious. She said with hindsight she wishes she'd not have saved the cash.
So if he's a great photographer with experience of weddings and can demonstrate that then great. Just be wary that's all I'm saying.
Wise words. After shooting over 400 weddings professionally, I'm still not sure what a "semi-professional wedding photographer" is - unless it's an amateur who's good enough to charge a few quid but not good enough to earn a living from their snapping.
BTW, if you have wedding insurance, it's always worth checking on what cover that gives you if your snaps are a disaster. Every policy I ever saw specified that the photographer used had to be a professional! We're all doomed0
