Worm in Sushi from Tesco, they lost it...

Few month back I found what looked like a small worm in my sushi what I got from Tesco. I contacted them and they told me to take it back into the store to get it sent back so they could investigate it.
I did not fall ill or anything but I found it on the last bit of sushi in the pack having eaten the rest, so I wanted to know that is was harmless in case I eat any or maybe eggs or something, it was quite small.
So I took it into store and got a return of goods receipt which I and the manager filled out, he also refunded me and apologized, was straight forward and he was helpful, then Tesco also sent me a £5 loaded money card as an apology. Then sometime after they sent an email saying they could not investigate as they had not received the item, and that if I had the foreign body and packaging could I send it back.
I contacted and told them I took it to the store, no reply, so I contacted them again to remind about my first email, the lady who was dealing with it was out of office but it was been dealt with.
Today I received a letter with a £10 moneycard from Tesco and a letter stating that they had been in touch with the store which I returned it to and that they are very sorry to say that the staff had disposed of it by mistake.
Even though they state they take complaints like this "very seriously" but somehow managed to "lose" it.
What should I do ? I mean I am still alive and well so... should I accept the £10 and leave it at that or ?

You've had a refund and a total of £15 for the trouble and as you stated that you were not sick, I would just forget about it now.
However goods a companies food production service is, there will always be the occasional little beastie getting into the food and at least Tesco were honest with you.
They could just have easily stated that an investigation had been carried out and their production processes had been changes as a result.0 -

Not normally.
Worked in Tesco's service centre in my student days, the stores are supposed to send it to the service centre through a refrigerated method and it is dealt with urgently once its received. Unfortunately stores sometimes make a mistake and send it through regular internal post which means its much slower and there is sometimes backlogs.
I was asked to help out the post team whilst I was there once and was given a package to deal with that contained diced chicken in which the customer had found a piece of plastic (looked like one of the old closures from a loaf of bread) but it had gone through normal post so basically had been sitting around a hot office for the best part of two weeks. Was more slime than chicken by that point - thankfully it was bagged, a colleague got something similar a few days later (dont know what was claimed to be in that one) but the envelope ruptured as she picked it up and the rancid/ rotten meat went all over her keyboard etc.0 -

Were they emotionally prepared? :rotfl:You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
