Best day, time and duration for selling

For me the best day and time to list is Sunday evening about 7, and the auction running for 7 days. Any auctions I have running during the day time in the week are a waste of time. Saturday can be hit and miss as alot of folk are far to busy unless its raining to bother going on ebay. Bank holidays for anything to finish is a total waste of time and money even to do now.

The above info is my experience although others I am sure will differ.

thanks for that - i often list on sunday - but always 10 days - i've never done it to end sunday before - sounds like it might be worth a try! things seem very quiet at the moment. i will let you know if it works for me too. Yes, re bank hols - frustrating cos it's great for me cos i'm off work so can do a lot of listing - and then the last two bank hols, like you realised that it was a huge waste of time and money! J x

Yeah it would be nice for you to let us know how you have got on too. Sometimes I think it is what I sell (not selling at mo anyway), but judging by the replies I think this is overall across the board.
I wonder if now the new smoking law is in force, some people will stay at home more and have a drink/ fag, and come on ebay more????? I know quite a few people whom say that's it, they will not be going out as much....so it might have a knock on effect on Ebay.

    Horses for courses.

Collectibles and the like 10 days. Batteries, memory cards, possibly phones (anything that has loads of similar for sale at any one time) 1 day.

Vast majority of items 7 days is plenty.

99% of the stuff sell i know within 10-15% what it will sell for so I normally list on 7 days with a high start ad a BIN about 10-15% higher than the start price, keeps sales moving and saves you hanging around 10 days for a sale. At the end of the day I just want it sold and the quicker that happens the better.

As for when to end items that is very dependant on the item most folk swear by Sunday evening, but if you follow that argument logically then everything would be listed to end Thursday evening with supply outstripping demand and a consequent lowering of prices. Again it is a bit hit or miss bit a bit of research on historical sales might provide some clues as to when they acheive the highest prices.

We are of course moving into summer holidays and the number of potential buyers will drop off on many items over the next month or so.

I agree with others that sunday is the best for things to end but as for things that sell well i dont think u can second guess that (apart form mobile etc and anything like that) but clothing items for instance on loads of occasions i have had 2 things exactly the same where one has made £2 profit and the other has made £20 profit , you just dont know whats gonna happen and thats part of the thrill of it for me.

If you are a really serious EBay seller is is worth purchasing a subscription to terapeak.co.uk. This site is brilliant as it not only tells you the best time of day to list a specific product, it also tells you the best day and other critical information like sell through rate for that particular product. it gives you the top sellers in that category too so you can go and have a look and see how they write their listings etc. I find it absolutely invaluable. You can also pay additional subscriptions if you are planning to list on the australian or US site so you can be specific to that country.

    Hope this helps:T :T:T:T

Fridays and Sats are pretty quiet other than that I think theres not much to choose between ending it any night.

That sounds quite late to me, especially if people have to up for the start of a working week on a Mon morning - I reckon about 8 -8.30 on a Sun night is the best time - after Corrie finishes. As someone said about the football, it's always worth checking anything big on the tv and don't clash with it, British Grand Prix, Wimbledon final etc., and any footy matches when the season is back.
