Best day, time and duration for selling

Hi there - I'm really interested to know what sellers think is the best time and day to start auctions, type of auctions/bin and the best duration. Also, any ideas on a good starting price in itself and/or percentage of what you want or expect to get? I used to list always at weekends for 10 days, but have questioned that and made some changes since starting on this forum. Maybe it's worth dividing this into four types of items
1- items that you think are very popular and that you know there will be a lot of interest in
2- items that don't tend to attract many bids having looked at completed items and may only attract one bid.
3- items that you bought very cheaply or something you want out of the house that you have no idea whether it will go or not and don't mind how much it goes for.
4 - items that you have listed and relisted once that haven't sold
Another question - when is the best time to use a mixture of auction and buy it now? I always use 10 days for this one and use it when i haven't managed to sell something once listed twice or number 3 above and make the auction starting price quite
low - £1.99 or £2.99.
ANyway - would love to hear from you what you experience and current 'policy' is? Jx

I have given up trying to work this out, last week was busy, this weekend is toooo quiet.0

I've only had half the sales this week as last, same number of listings, more shop sales this week though.

I've given up trying to second guess ebay, you can have the best strategy going - doesn't say it's going to work!
I'm expecting next week to pick up, nearer to pay day for most people.;)"There is a light that never goes out"0 -

There was a cheap listing day on the 16th June so there may have more items listed than normal, having a knock-on effect on prices?
I listed 7 items on that day and 6 sold, so I'm quite content. They could have gone for more though!

I'm a big fan of Wednesday and Thursday evenings for sales. I am doing a lot of Buy-it-Nows at present and am selling significantly more on the weekday evenings than at weekends. Depends what you are selling though.0

What sites are you planning to sell on? I only use ebay for the occasional cheap listing day- so i'll not give advice for that site. For ebid I use a mix of auctions (3 day auctions set to auto repost ten times) and 'buy it nows'. the auctions move to the front of the category searches as they get closer to ending- so get more visibility. There is no such word as "bidded". I bid, you bid, they bid, Ebid

when you listed them, when was your final day? did you do 3, 5, 7 or 10 days? I'm thinking that that must make a difference? thanks.Aiming to take control of my life:A

yes, i noticed before that i sold more on wed and thurs - but i've just started finishing some auctions on fri, sat and sunday and the difference i've seen up to now is that there has only been one bidder on the weekend days whereas there seems to be a bit of competition on weekdays. I've never had much success with bins, but i am experimenting with combinations bin/auctions on 10 days as i read somewhere that bins seemed to be getting more popular. I'm selling vintage (30s-80s) pottery and jewellery and a few general things from home that i'm letting go of.Aiming to take control of my life:A

I'd be interested in seeing your vintage jewelery... do you want to PM a link to your items for sale?

I agree with the above - I do this quite often with things I'm not sure that will sell well - gives 2 weekends coverage and I think Sunday night is a pretty good time to spend on EBay - rubiish TV and no Football on !
