Monthly contract - charged when using home wifi?

Hi,

Firstly I apologise for what will be a very stupid question.

I have a pay monthly contract with Talk Mobile which gives me a certain amount of free minutes/browsing and texts - plenty for my use, so I hardly ever go above the set monthly charge.

At home I have Virgin set up for tv/internet and home phone. When using my mobile at home, I connect to Virgin wifi for quicker web browsing. Is this still counted on my Talk Mobile account as using up my included browsing credit, and will it still show up on my individual charges on my monthly statement account?

I am very confused!

what i did to my mother phone is: WIFI on and Mobile Data on.
when she is at home the phone get connected to wifi, when she comes to my place the phone gets connected to my Wifi and when she goes to my sisters place the phone gets connected to my sister wifi and when she is out and about the phone is useing Mobile data.

You can do the same or do as BallyBlack said.

  • Thanks for replies - my question is more about charges and bill statements - if I have a contract with Talk mobile and connect to Virgin wifi, does this mean that at that point the use of my phone has nothing to do with Talk Mobile at all and therefore will not be deducted from my free credit nor will it be shown on my usage breakdown? Sorry again for being stupid I have no idea how these things work.

That is correct for data (internet), not for phone calls or texts (including picture messaging).

If a phone is able to connect to WiFi it will use data through the WiFi not through the mobile providers data connection.
