rob would that work...i cant believe so??? although the principle of connecting the ends together pans out, i would have thought that the usb ethernet connector will only work when plugged into a pc because the pc can provide drivers about how to interface with the ethernet. however i doubt whether the modem / router will be able to install drivers to know how 2 use the device. i do not believe there is a solution for this issue but i may be mistaken.

to be honest i dont know...... i started to look for a solution for the cabling/connection issue, due to internet connection restrictions from work, I have had limited sites i could see...... mse pcworld but not amazon....

as i have stated earlier, usb and ethernet are two different cabling technologies, which in a way the two adapters are attemtping to supply a usb to ethernet connection,

as the modem is connected into the router...... it wont need drivers loaded....... I installed a dsl modem to a wireless router for my sister (albeit without the need for convuluted connectors), the pc didnt need to load drivers for the modem...... only for the router
    personally i have a router/modem

I assumed nellylocks point was that the router won't connect to the modem as it contains no USB drivers, normally the modem connects to the PC which has drivers to control the USB connection

on further investigation, whilst my solution would enable you to connect the modem to the router......... it is almost definately not going to work........ (in fact network guy at work, says he tried same thing, whilst the router talks to the pc, there is no conversation between the router and the modem......)

    sorry.............

therefore I think your only options are

for dell to replace router with a router/modem
or sell router and buy new router/modem

who knows the way technology is going...... someone will design another box to sit in between the router and modem..... then a case....... and then a new type of computer that could be used at home is born...... :j
