Just switched electricity to them & they tell me the gas will shortly follow (Electricity was 27th Dec & apparently gas will switch on 2nd Jan).
So i click to submit the electricity as i read it on the morning of 27th Dec.
Just gone into the account today & apparently i've submitted NO readings for anything at all.
And then all i see on here is people groaning about npower.
Does anyone actually have a positive experience with npower at all??

It's really hard to know which of the energy companies has got their act together.
It seems to have come as a bit of a surprise to them that people might be swapping suppliers after they had ramped up their prices. They weren't ever so good before all the swapping but they all seem to have fallen to bits and given up since. Dunno what the answer is:(Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

I often can't get through to these sort of places because of work times.
I haven't actually checked whether npower is open until late, but i imagine after work they'll be even busier. The 2 times that i have tried calling them there was a 45 minute wait on the line to have your call actually answered. Sod that for a carry on, i'm not waiting 45 minutes just to wait on it actually being answered, never mind sorted.
They offer an online submitting service, they're a big company & therefore it should work. It's not unreasonable to expect it to work. I bet they never have any problem taking my money!!0 -
I have to say I have had no problems at all with NPower - I (usually) submit my readings on a monthly basis, and other than a few times where it has taken ages to log in I have been ok0

I have been with Npower for many years and only had one small problem, regarding changing tariff, for which I was well compensated (£20 when only a couple of pounds were involved)....until their recent decision to outsource to India and take hundreds of UK people's employment.0

Don't bet on it - this forum is full of complaints at the moment where npower haven't taken money and are now sending huge catch up bills! :eek:0 -
Hi,
We're one of the accounts who "haven't had bills"....except we kept getting "Statements " through the post. The last few showing us in Credit.
Thing was they were then reversing these back off the account...so of course we were in credit ...but it didnt show anywhere the reversal....
We were rung up last April and told by nPower we were overpaying...we're a two bed semi yet we were paying £289 a month for our gas/electric combined.
The smartmonitor they had sent us earlier confirmed what their lady was saying, she wanted to reduce our payments to just £65 my husband more , she said £100 , we settled on £150.
Then in May they made us take a refund , the account was over £800 in credit, they wanted us to to take it all we compromised and took £420.
We hung onto this till August when we used it for our holiday, the statements they were sending out showed us in credit.
Then start of November they rang, they were wrong...we weren't in credit we were in debit...by a lot...they couldnt say how much... But pressed they said nearly £900 ....
We logged into their wonderful online system...it showed us over £2000 in credit!!!! You can't trust it.
Also we gave meter readings in April but only the gas one was showing...they didnt show the electric because it had "been flagged as a query" at time of entry. (which begs the question , why reduce the payments, give a refund if there was a query flagged ....madness!!!)
Then after they said we were in debit the system automatically refunded £289 into our bank, I rang up straight away and asked why...."that's because the accounts in credit , it does that once the credit gets too high" .....but we're not in credit..or are we?
We're now having to do meter readings daily.
Problem!!! We have one of the old dial meters and some days it seems to be going backwards
Npower have so far given us 5 ways of reading it
1. Always take the lowest number, and if its on the number take that number
2. Always take the lowest number, and if its on the number take the number below it
3. Always take the lowest number, and if its on the number - if its between 0-1 on the next dial take the one below, if its 0-9 take the number
4. always take the lowest number, and if its on the number if its beween 0 -1 on the next dial take the one below, if its0-9 take the one above
5. always take the highest number if the dial goes anti clockwise, lowest if it doesnt and the number itself its dead on it...
Based on the reading we've done so far they think we sould be paying £157 a month.
The complaints team have calculated over a year and say we should be paying £229 and that's what they're taking...
Npower are coming to check the meter 9th January
That'll take 4 weeks with secondary meter running against our current one , then they're going to check the results
If the meter is faulty, and only if it's faulty , will they replace it (regardless of whether anyone can read it sensibly) and they will "review the payments".
So for December, January, February we're stuck with the £229(even though the support team said this wouldnt change from the £150 until they'd tested the meter etc)
Then once they've settled whether the meter is faulty they're going to arrange what we have to pay monthly to clear the debit...

I've had the same problems as the op.submitted meter readings...twice after their requests. Now I can't even log into my account online.
I've only been a customer since 4th Jan and I'm already starting to have doubts as to whether switching to npower was a wise choice!0 -
Have emailed off to npower.
Got an email from them the other day asking for readings from the year 2000. Not sure the previous owners will be able to help me out there.0
