What about a Tomy Megasketcher. £9.75 @ Argos
http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=10651&langId=-1&searchTerms=tomy+megasketcher
It says for ages 3 upwards but my daughter had endless fun with hers since before she was two. "Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion". _party_0 -

the sad thing is that 2 years old much prefer to play with the packaging rather than the present itself lol so sad but true,to be honest i think hed probably be happy with anything you bought him, trains maybe an idea they seem to start getting mad on thomas the tank engine from that age,i know all my lads have been, good luck whatever you buy xxxxIt`s getting to the point0

I agree- the megasketcher is a really good buy, and will give hours and hours of (non-messy) fun.

Deffo agree with that megasketcher idea - when they get over 12m you can use more discresion with age limits. I'd let my 21m old have one of those happily.
If he's the kid that's got everything then get something he can do on the cheap so if it gets left in the cupboard after only a few days of play it doesn't matter. If you don't like the sketcher or can't get one, what about some garden toys to go with the waterslide? Like the Tesco giant hopscotch thingy, pack of skittles, giant foam football? Goes with a summer birthday and costs less than a fiver. Arts and crafts are good fun at this age too; play doh, paints, sticky stuff. Again, some stuff says 3yr+ but my 21m old is competent with these things. A new toddler book never goes astray either and you're unlikely to buy a duplicate with so many available these days. You can get those big ones with sound buttons for toddlers at the moment from Woolies for around £6 or £7 each and all little boys love buttons!!!
BTW it's a nice thought and I hope if my DS ever gets a step Mum he gets one that tries to make the effort too

When it was dd1's second birthday I bought her nothing and when it was dd2's second birthday I bought her a Boobah. It was in a sale and cost £2.50.
We had a little party at home but a 2 year old already has everything they need. (imo)Loving the dtd thread. x0 -
Some age appropriate DVD's - Tesco have Buy two get third free deals on...
and www.play.com are really cheap with free postage.
Those Etcher sketcher things are brilliant.. my DD has two of them and she is always playing with the.. she's not yet 2 but she loves them and is always asking me to draw with her. Very cheap too!0
