You didn't really explain what you found horrific about it: Currys complete disinterest in obeying the law, or someone being able to return something they don't like? Or was there something else?

The law exists for a reason. If Currys doesn't want to abide by it, the company can choose to not trade online. It's that simple. It has a huge bricks-and-mortar operation, where buyers have no right to return non-faulty goods. Just stick to that.

    Hi All,

This - to me - is a horrific thread.

I will warn you this - it is a very distinct possibility that retailers will start blacklisting people who return non-faulty goods - whatever the law says.

Lets put it this way - I certainly wouldn't want to be on such a blacklist.

    Paranoid ...

If any trader wants to put me and others on a blacklist for exercising our legal right then I will happily watch them go out of business. Unless you own Amazon or another equally large corporation then that is a likely result for refusing money when its offered.
  • How much do you guys guess this law costs business? How many scammers do you imagine are out there?

The fact that the legislation quoted in this thread has been replaced shows that you have very little knowledge of the subject.

Probably very little. Retailers can oblige consumers to pay the return postage costs and if the goods are returned damaged or have been used too much by the consumer, the refund given can be reduced to reflect this.

Add on that the fact that online retailers probably sell far more because consumers know that they generally have the right to return if what they buy isn't suitable, and the law may in fact give the retailer more profits than if it didn't exist.
  • I bought a Bosch dishwasher and paid for installation. Everything was fine till the delivery man who was also the trained installer left. I noticed a dripping leak under the sink. During installation he had caused the sink extractor pipework slight damage.Half an hour of installation I was putting the things away under the sink, I noticed the leak and immediately informed Currys of this issue. I stopped using the sink, put a container under the leak and waited for currys to comeback with a solution. The customer service team first could not reach the distribution centre ( a laugh) and then the Distribution centre could not get through to the driver/installer to come back. I made 4 calls in 4 hours try to get it sorted(without getting an update from customer service or distribution). Finally they said oh the driver cannot come to you and will come tomorrow. Asked what time will he come, they cannot tell me as the system updates in the evening. Nobody seems to have a clue what the other department is doing?
The whole experience of dealing with Currys services for the first time made me feel like that currys are not at all bothered with what good customer service is? and they do not care. They will try to patronise you by telling you what to do till they can arrange a call back.
No wonder online retailers are growing with very good customer services experience.

And that has what to do with returning non-faulty goods under the CCRs/DSRs?
    Squirrel!
If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

Remember - be nice to newbies.

    He's had a crap experience.

    You're not exactly helping.

By the way, which pony is that supposed to be in your sig? Not one of the many My Little Ponies that I can, sadly, identify.
