Which debt collector is it from?
No they do not have you screwed - read the newbie thread regarding debt collectors.
Debt collectors have no legal powers to do anything - they just write to try and you intimidate you into paying. You can either ignore or respond robustly denying the debt.
Did you not make an appeal to Parking Eye as the registered keeper?
Why don't you write to Gordano Services directly in the address given in previoius post - addressing it to the Manager.
The only letters you should not ignore are Parking Eye's LBC (see Daisy's sticky thread on how to deal with it) from their legal department and the lovely Rachel or the county court form itself.0 -
Debt Recovery Plus LTD.
I was unsure of how to word my letter to Parking Eye. Should I draft up a letter and send it to both Gordano services and Parking eye?0 -
Send PE a letter giving the name and address of the driver...as it wasn't you (the keeper) was it?! I thought not. Don't forget the driver is NOT too late to appeal as long as the keeper gives their name and address. Then they get their own PCN in the post and can then win at POPLA.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

UPDATE 2: I have tried speaking to the branch manager and been directed elsewhere numerous times. I have just received a letter from a debt collection agency? I guess they have me screwed right?
Like what has been said, Debt Collection agencies have no legal powers to do anything. They are a parasite of society, with no objective apart from to get paid. Most big companies sell the debt to the agency, who of course then want to do everything in their power to get paid. I was in dispute with Virgin Media once over £79 and they past the debt to an agency. In the space of two Weeks, I had received 20+ calls, numerous texts and 4 written letters. At first it was entertaining as I blocked their numbers and let them leave voice mails. After all, it was their time and resources they were wasting. Then it became a nuisance and harassment, so I wrote to them stating that I disputed the debt directly with Virgin Media and if they continued to harass me, then I would be reporting them to Trading Standards. Everything stopped the following day and I haven't heard anything since.
Word to the wise, if you dispute a debt, make sure that you put it in writing. Pay a £1 and keep an eye on your credit report with someone like Experian, otherwise they could register a default notice against your file, making it more difficult and expensive to get credit.Search my post " PoPLA evidence - What to submit" on what is a good defense for a PoPLA appeal.0
