Redx, I'm sure you're right. I've never been asked to enter my car reg when parking before, but I see how it works now. Lucky I was able to find the ticket. The only reason I have it was due to my habit of throwing these things straight into the wheelie bin on my drive when I get home and out of the car. And there it was, right at the bottom, underneath all the tons of (fortunately bagged up) household stuff. It would have been emptied last week if it hadn't been Christmas! Ha ha.
Thanks again for the info and help, very informative and you even refrained from calling me an idiot for entering my reg all wrong. At least I've learned something.0 -
lol
I have only ever had to do it once, on a council car park, plus my wife has also done it a few times, again on council car parks , but I have learned a lot in the last 8 months or so, especially on here , so understand stuff like this better myself now too
I have also read many posts where people have entered any old rubbish (or "clever" comments) and then had a ticket because the reg hasnt married up to the anpr
dont throw anything out just yet , also make sure you get this cancellation in writing , asap , and keep that safe too , you never know if these people are going to send you DR letters in 5 months time !! never say never , but it should never happen
ps:- I too was scrabbling in my blue bin a few months ago, looking for receipts and tickets to prove a case against PE,, I even posted a thread about it because PE cancelled the charge at the soft appeal stage0 -
Looks like I spoke too soon - I received a PCN reminder today despite beng told five days ago over the phone that they would be cancelling the charge.0

cover yourself by sending in the soft appeal, with proof, and mentioning all this about the ticket cancellation etc , insist on getting it in writing this time too
never say its over , until its over !0 -

You've probably been hit by the automated reminder system and things have 'crossed in the post', particularly at a busy time of year and with the Christmas break. And PE systems of late seem to have been breaking down a bit.
But what I would say of PE is that they seem pretty reasonable at delivering their promises, so I suspect this is a glitch.
But do keep your eye on things, don't let it drift on for too long - you might need to give Charlotte a quick reminder call. PE seem to always send a cancellation letter as confirmation. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I just sent them a written reminder of the conversation and a copy of the parking receipt, also a copy of our booking form for a big group of us at the restaurant (including a receipt for a sizeable deposit).
Hopefully this will just be an automated reminder as you say.0 -
I got a letter from these people today?
I went here on New Year's Day arrived at 14:51 and left 15:37 so 45 mins.
With popping in on New Year's Day I did not purchase a ticket as I've never paid to park on a bank holiday or New Year's Day before in normal towns / cities.
Can anyone shed any info on if I can get this overturned as I've been on the website and it states nothing about bank holidays , it says you do pay to including Sundays but nothing about you having or not having to pay on bank holidays , surely it should state everything to be able to enforce a bank holiday payment for parking ?
Help would be great0 -
