On this thread - for me - a NSD is no GC money spent.
Went to the local big shopping centre - spent £13.11 - got the red onions in Lid.. for 39p - 7 in a net.
We had HM LO balls + roast potatoes/roast parsnips + carrots + sprouts + onion + gravy for dinner.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Hi all
I have a bit of query re: NSD'. Do you count a NSD as not spending money that counts towards the grocery challenge or a day of no spending whatsoever? I assume it's the latter, but if not today would be a NSD for me in that i haven't spent any of my grocery money, but i've spent money on other things budgeted for elsewhere.
I'm counting a NSD as a day when I don't use my debit card or cash. My household bills are all paid by direct debit.Credit Card £[STRIKE]2332.04[/STRIKE] at 1st Jan 14 now £2089

Made the inventory of my cupboards and fridges but didn't make the meal plan so will do tomorrow before I start work at 4.
Made some cookies with a peppa pig box from the cupboard with the kids, also chucked out some best before 2012 jelly cubes... Now I'm all for using after bbf dates but that's a bit too much for me

Can I join please? We are a family of three and I used to spend £50+ a week but we are expecting so I want to learn to shop and not spend on rubbish which we normally or I normally do.
I am starting from today and my first food shop was in Ald! where I have never been before - but am interested to see how we get on with it there. I am used to T!sco.
So today I spent £21.97 - meal planned and we are only going to eat meat two to three days a week. I have found so many nice veggy recipes and I think this would save money!3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

I need help, I have just been gifted a 12-16kg turkey :T
The problem is that it is frozen solid and my fridge and freezers could never hold it even it was empty
My oven can cook it if I put the bottom shelf as low as possible and remove the other shelves.
Can I just leave this out overnight to defrost? How long would that take?
Should I put it in water?
Please help, I'm used to a small turkey defrosted for 24 hrs in a fridge.£36/£240

I took a NSD as not spending any money (bar bills that are DD) my other half order himself some white board pens off amazon as he signed up for the free prime for the crimbo delievery and he needs them (college) - the pens would of gone onto our household other budget, well anyway as I wanted another NSD real soon I decided to go to Asda today instead of tomorrow (so an NSD tomorrow - yeah).
Glad I went as I got loads of yellow bargins, I got 10 capri suns drinks reduced to 20p, 18 bags of seabrook crisp £1 - long exp date also just that the bag / box damaged will be great for packed lunches. I also got some pasta sauce for 20p (exp date Feb) and a lot of yogurts for 6p all dated 5th - I actually needed some natural yogurt as I'm making a spinach chicken balti tomorrow and the extra special was reduced to 27p and dated the 5th for a 400g tub - so half will be for my 1/4 will be for my marinade and the rest will be topping for muesli for my breakfast for the next few days... yum! And not forgetting the bread and buns
Grand total spent today 15.54 :T0 -
Hello,
I will be interested in hearing how you find the actifry, I was looking at one the other day. Our cooker is on its last legs and I have been trying to decide which is the better option to buy. So many cooking utensils on the market these days.
Popped out today and spent £18.38 on nuts and nut butter from the health shop. Hopefully, they will last us for a while as they are so expensive.
Not had chance to read the thread today, will pop back later.

Hiya I have one. Had it about two years now, purchased off bay of E for about £50. They are very versatiles and I do loads in mine but they are prone to needing replacement parts alot. Mine has had a new paddle and needs a new filter. The lid has also cracked and so I can't use it til I buy another. I wouldn't be without it; but would look into the Halo or Airfryer also.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July £74.69/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. Just quickly popping in before bed. Many thanks for the advice on actifryers, halo products etc.
Hubby seems keen for me to purchase something like this, but I will take a little longer to weigh everything up. I am also wondering about a halogen cooker....
See you all tomorrow.
