Up very early this morning as full of a cold and sneezing my head off.

Well my yoghurt using fresh milk is very successful so I will do it again. I think I was just nervous about trying it and so stuck with the UHT.
and wondering if it will keep as long though.

Hi Meg .... horrible isn't it!?

Can I please ask if it was you who gave me the apple chutney recipe? If so, could you advise what else I can put in place of dates, thanks?

  • Thanks for the tips re Paul H scones ladies - I can bake but never managed good scones. Will give this recipe a try soon and report back. Might have to wait until 1 Feb though as running short on cash am determined to keep within lower budget this month.

Food shop day today - written a list so I am careful with what I buy.

I am worried I have set our limit too low for the GC but I will have to see. I still have two weeks today though

Lost count again as usual! But have been using only the debit card the vast majority of the time, so have been able to look back at my statement. Total at the mo is £188.43. Not bad for me considering there is the making of 9 dinners in the freezer with only 14 days to go to pay day and the end of my challenge. Hoping one more medium sized shop and one or two milk and bread runs should do it!
    Save 12k in 2014 (my target: £10 000):
    My savings: £4878.54/£7000
    Joint account savings: £2685.57/£3000
    Total:£7564.11/£10 000 (as at 26/10/14)

  • Hi,
Had an unexpected trip to Tesco yesterday, managed to only spend £14, I was very restrained & even put a few bits back that I really didn't need :)
Have updated my sig & am definitely having a NSD today, I think from next month I'm going to add a NSD challenge into the mix, as it'll hopefully help me be more disciplined with my planning :)
  • Hello everyone! I used to come on here a lot and am back again after a few years away (and a move back home to Australia). Mind if I join you? My month only just started.

Eating out is a big danger area for me (ie lunches at work due to disorganisation) so I'm really focussing on getting back into meal planning so this month my two big aims are to avoid eating out unnecessarily, and to get a handle on how much I actually do spend on groceries.

So - for Jan I am deliberately choosing a conservative figure to start with: A$110 per week.

Groceries for me will include anything I would buy at the supermarket or equivalent stores, including basic toiletries. "Eating out" will include bought but unplanned snacks like chocolate bars, unplanned meals or coffees for no particular reason and drinks. If it's planned in advance and is to catch up with a friend that's different :)
