Morning all
Very windy & cold here today, the heating has come on despite being set to frost.
I had a very early start today, next door's DGD has been running around, up and down stairs shrieking since about 6:30. She is 13 and has no mental health issues as I know the child from school, she's just bloody noisy & inconsiderate, lol. I came downstairs, made a cuppa and started making some crochet flowers from the book hubby gave me for Christmas.
Molly, Hilstep Hugs.
LW sounds like lots of furry fun in your house.
Welcome to Mazdaa and gingermomma, I hope you both post regularly.
Time I made my porridge.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone
Very grey, windy and ominous looking here, I think the threatened heavy rain is on the way.
Can hear the bin men in the next street so am hoping they make their way around to us, as both bins are overflowing. I checked the council website and it's supposed to be both normal bins and recycling today but we will see.
Ate more leftover Christmas stuff last night and am now sick of the sight of it. Am going to buy some "normal" food today! GDD is staying on New Year's Eve and wants a "pink roast beef dinner" so am off to look for a nice piece of beef too. Haven't touched my rewards points at Mr S, so may take a trip there and see what I can buy.
Hi and welcome to both Mazdaa and gingermomma :hello:
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well. warm and safe and have a super day

Morning All
Welcome gingermomma and Mazdaa, nice to 'meet' you.
Hope this morning finds everyone well, happy birthday to Jacksmummy's DS, sorry to hear you're having problems with your Mum.
Off down south in about an hour - my MIL (who I don't really speak to, especially since OH passed away) is quite ill and was taken into hospital on Christmas Day with heart failure. I am going with DD down to yorkshire - she will go over to Sheffield and I will stay at my friends near Halifax. Hope the weather is going to be ok. I have put her on my car insurance so we can share the driving.
Most left overs are now used or in the freezer, coming back on New Years Day and friends have invited us for dinner so don't need to worry there.
Take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
Very blustery and wet here this morning. I'm a bit miffed as DH was going to work today but considering his immediate jobs are mending fences and leaking roofs for customers I suppose I can't expect him to go in this weather! He has decided to replace our bath panel instead which has needed doing for a few months now. Normally I'd be pleased but my hairdresser is due soon and so I'll need the bathroom.
I'm still itching to get rid of the decs...
There is something about the clutter of the decorations that makes me want to declutter the whole house. Anyone else feel like that?
Welcome to Mazdaa and gingermomma
I've had a chat with DS2 this morning and told him to not leave his homework until the last day. I hate sounding like I'm nagging but that boy does need a rocket up his behind sometimes
Well enjoy the day0 -
Good morning all.
Weather awful here & bins have been flying around outside. Hopefully the binmen will be here soon. Normal rubbish & the food waste this week.
I've made a menu plan & need to go food shopping. Have realised shops may be like the apocalypse again today. Need to get a handle on the food shops again. Have slipped a bit.
Small child is eating chocolate for breakfast. Need to put all the Christmas chocs away.
We went to the pantomime last night. It was really funny. Parked for free as well. Used a street nearby. Meant we got away quite fast we well as we didn't have to queue to get out of he carpark.
I feel utterly exhausted today. Think Christmas has caught up with me. I need some early nights. Well early tonight. Tomorrow will stay up. Not cos I'm interested in seeing in new year, but because the fireworks would wake me up!
Need to clean the bathrooms today and have a Hoover through. Also do a 15 mins declutter in small child's bedroom.
1st of all, will get small child dressed & go to a$da.
Older 2 children still in bed & husband in work.
Love, hugs & spoons all xxx0 -
Morning all,
Tru I did some experimenting yesterday and managed a glasses case in singe crochet, but it's very difficult to concentrate with our 4 yr old DGS here, I'm waiting for a couple of quiet days. My next project are some simple slippers in single crochet, I need to pick up some wool and a size 6 hook.
Off to the tip this morning as the bins are overflowing. Then back home to wait for the post. Our debit cards expire on the 1st of Jan, apparently the bank posted on 20th but not arrived yet, fingers crossed for today.
Back to normal healthy eating today, I feel sluggish and unhealthy. Really hoping 2014 is going to be positive for us. Paid £650 off debt in 2013 and started in March. Not a great deal but better than adding to it and hoping for a lot more off this year.
Off to battle he winds,

Good Morning chums I managed to blag my way onto DDs main computer as the boys have gone swimming this morning.I'm still at DDs until tonight then I really must get home and sort my own house out a bit.I have been helping DD to paint her downstairs bathroom, its looking great now, and we had a good declutter of all the junk that seems to accumulate in there. She has another bathroom on the top floor (she lives in a town house) but the boys seem to prefer using the one on the ground floor, so it gets clogged up with lots of their stuff, bottles of hair gel, shower stuff etc. They all have their own preferences as to what they use (worse than girls
:))
It's very wet'n' windy here, so we were going to take the dogs for a long walk at the country park, but I think that's off the menu this afternoon, probably a noisy game of cards I think, and keeping warm indoors. Tomorrow I am off to my eldest DDs and then to her in-laws in the evening in London for the bells and a family party.I am hoping to get home to my house on Wednesday and will get to sort out the tree and get my little house back to 'normal again.I love the festivities over Christmas and New Year, but I also love to be on my own just 'pottering' about indoors in my PJs and dressing gown and a large cup of coffeeI will be looking after the boys on Thursday and Friday as Mum and Dad are back to work, but I have planned to do some baking with them, and will take my waffle machine to their house to make some waffles with them. Then life will resume back to routine the following week when they all go back to school and the New Year starts.I like New Year as its such a hopeful time and there are things to look forward to.
I booked our ferries last night for our holiday on the Isle of Wight next August so thats all done and dusted.
I hope you all have a very happy New Year and its a peaceful and prosperous one for many of you
Take care

Morning everyone!
Raining and windy here - still really grey outside!
Really getting stressed by my clutter so I want to have a big clear out. Is it crazy that I want to get rid of most of what I own?! Not most of the books or the sentimental stuff but all the bits and bobs that don't have a home and all the clothes I never wear. I seem to wear the same things all the time and yet the wardrobe and drawers are full. Doesn't help that they were from the children's section but still.
Want to bake later and wanted to tidy up the garden but it is a bit wild for that. Really need to organise myself for 2014 as at the moment I seem to run around being busy and yet never get anything done!
Need to figure out a way to organise and store my craft stuff, vintage magazines, and all my pen pal / sponsor child stuff. Oh and plan a budget too. I can live with the mess for so long (busy with work and caring a lot of the time) but now that I have had a few days at home I am cracking up just looking at it ...... x0 -
pollyanna24 wrote: »Sorry I really wasn't going to post today as I really need to get to bed, but lame wolf, what is a flash drive? I know! I'm clueless!
It's a memory stick that plugs into a USB port on your pc, laptop or netbook. I think all computers of these types have at least three USB ports these days; I can't speak for tablets, as I've never used one (I dislike touch screens). You can get various sizes; a basic 2 gb (gigabyte) one will set you back about a fiver.
I have a dedicated flash drive for recipes and crafts - knitting patterns etc - and another, bigger one, that acts as a photo album, as I take stupid amounts of photos of the dogs.
One thing I would say - keep a backup of your files, because flash drives don't last forever and ever, and you don't want to lose anything precious.;) I have all the photos backed up on the desktop pc, because they are completely irreplaceable.
And talking of dogs..... Ronnie is here. He's a funny little chap; very quiet and placid, - and very, very hairy! I had no idea JRs could be long-haired!:D
We'll be braving the elements for walkies shortly.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Late reply to the thread, but instead of being a lurker (last post was nearly a year ago I think!) thought I would actually post
Was up at 7 as the dogs wanted to go out, blowing a gale and raining so they didn't last long in the garden!
Wanted to get out in the garden to finish off my pallet wood coldframe thats actually turned into a mini greenhouse (3ft square x 4.5ft tall at the back!) but that looks like its a rain stopped play thing.
Started to plant some tomato seeds to put in the conservatory, we decided to grow as many seeds as we can this year, plant up what we need and car boot the rest at 50p a go. Luckily the local nursery had a 50p on all seeds at the end of last season so we have a lot of variety!
The Mrs is sat next to me on the sofa crocheting for England, hats and scarves seem to be flavour of the months.
Just did a freezer dive to see what we have in there for some meals this week and we seem sorted on that side of things!
Made a loaf of bread using a no yeast recipe (baking powder instead!) and it took 45 minutes from mixing to eating!
Found a load of frozen blackberries (from our walks round local parks in the autumn) so may make a pie or two if I can find some cheap apples nearby.
Christmas clean up will be started soon, house is a bit untidy but having two kids who is surprised
Back to work on Thursday so hopefully the start of 2014 is a good one for everyone!
Have a good afternoon allThanks to advice from people here I am debt free - thank you to you all! Now working on the mortgage!0
