I became involved in or rather was eavesdropping in a conversation at work the other day. My colleagues partner had signed up for a cashback mobile phone deal on the T Mobile network. To cut a long story short they didnt read the small print correctly so have had their cashback claims rejected, not just the first one all of them. They are wondering what would happen if the just terminated the contract with T Mobile or rather stopped using the phone and I suppose cancelled the payments. I expressed that this could be a bit 'iffy' as you can never be sure what credit ratings might be effected. Am I being a bit cautious or what are any other ideas/opinions out there.
Cheers

T-Mobile will just start legal proceedings for the amount due on the outstanding contract, so as well as missing out on the cashback they will end up with a CCJ if they do not settle, gets put on their credit record and would adversely affect their chance of getting another contract

Two contracts; one with the dealer (cashback) the other with the network (T-mobile). I'm afraid one is totally separate from the other and he cannot cancel the T-mobile contract without suffering the full consequences. The lessojn is understand it all beforehand and make sure you do it right in the first place I'm afraid! The people who don't pay for those who do - like me; thanks!
