Sorry this post is long but I wanted to explain clearly. I purchased this Living Social deal:
https://www.livingsocial.com/deals/920213-japanese-kimono-doll-umbrella
The deal cost £9 and was for a voucher that I could spend at www.myavarice.co.uk to get an umbrella that normally costs £34.99 for just £3.99 postage so I paid £9 to LivingSocial and £3.99 to My Avarice. The terms and conditions state "Last order date for guaranteed Christmas delivery is December 20, 2013". I ordered on December 20, 2013 and the umbrella has still not arrived.
I have emailed LivingSocial to ask for a refund. This is the reply from LivingSocial:
"Hi Sarah,
While LivingSocial worked with the merchant to bring you this great deal, the merchant is definitely your best resource for questions pertaining to the status of your order. Per the Fine Print of your voucher, you can contact My Avarice via email on info@myavarice.co.uk or call 0207 096 0039 for direct assistance.
Please let us know if we may assist you further. We hope you enjoy the deal!
If you still have questions, please reply to this email. We're happy to help.
Thanks for LivingSocial!

I do not want to know the status of my order, I know it has not arrived. I want a refund. I paid £9 to LivingSocial for this deal, which stated if I ordered by the 20th of December I would receive it by Christmas.
I have contacted My Avarice to ask them to refund my postage. I was under the impression My Avarice was a UK website because they have a .co.uk url, prices in pounds and the company has a London address. However when I received the order confirmation it said " If you have any questions about your order please contact us at info@myavarice.co.uk or call us at 02070960034 Monday - Friday, 10:30am - 5pm PST." It is not convenient for me to call 10:30am - 5pm PST because that is 8 hours behind GMT. I emailed them and received this frankly bizarre reply in broken English:
"Dear Sarah
We hope you had a great Christmas
We do apologies for the non delivery I can only apologies as you did not recessive your goods till this point as I did use the words guaranteed and its more of a disappointment on our side ad to receive a number of customers like your self that has yet to have retrieved your parcel. We can only apologizes as your item has been shipped out now in many terms we have received note from royal mail. Due to the seasonal holidays and the demand on postal services they are delivering any post as quick as they can with all the conditions both of the back log and with the effects of the harsh weather to get them dispatched as soon as possible.

It would be funny but they have my money. I am now seriously concerned about this company.
Am I correct in thinking I am entitled to a refund because an order with guaranteed Christmas delivery hasn't arrived? And how do I go about getting a refund from LivingSocial and My Avarice? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Wow indeed!
That's one of the most inarticulate responses I've ever seen from a company on this site.
Although I've seen a couple of instruction leaflets that could give it a run for its money. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
I'd be asking Living Social if they offer an interpreting service0

I can't help about the refund as I'm only posting about the address of the supposed company. It's a dodgy bar/restaurant on the not very nice end of streatham High Road! Good luck in getting your money back.0

Thank you for that information. It's only £3.99 but it's the principle of the thing! I feel very sorry for anyone who bought their products full price! Because LivingSocial is an established and reliable company I thought the companies they worked with for offers would be too, obviously not!0 -
Never mind duck, I has just been to Waitrose and the Easter Eggs are out.0

I phoned LivingSocial. Their advisor was surprised and apologetic. She found out that the address My Avarice give for returns on their website, which is different from the address in their email, is also a restaurant! She assured me this is a rare occurrence and LivingSocial do check out the companies they work with. You would think that would include something as basic as googling their address! LivingSocial are investigating but this could take up to 7 days. In the meantime, I am concerned that other people may buy the offer, which is still live. Please tell people to avoid My Avarice!0
