What's wrong with my mondeo?

Is it ok to push start a diesel? I thought this was a big no no. Could this have damaged something?0

Egr valves are a big prob on diesel they get clogged and can cause al sorts of problems depending if it is stuck open or closed. Worth giving that a clean and check don;t cost anything.
As for the door lock check the wire's in the loom between the door and A pillar inside the rubber sleeve. They tend to fray over time with the continual door use.0 -
Bump starting the Mondeo diesel can have the timing chain skip a tooth or more if not done smoothly.
Alarm going off either your not switching the ignition on after opening the door. That disables the alarm not unlocking the car with the key.
Faulty drivers door lock, Bonnet switch.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Is it only when cold that it is difficult to start? The only reason I am asking is my neighbour had a mondeo diesel with that problem and it turned out to be the high pressure pump - hopefully it isnt this as I am sure he said it was an expensive job to sort out. But as others have said - try the cheaper stuff first (filters etc)0

They can be a bit fussy on the amount of Bio in the fuel. Manual says not to use Bio. Which is impossible as all diesel sold today contains some.
Possible an issue with the fine mesh in the filters and waxing. Get a genuine filter and try that.
I think there is a thread on some newer fords having fuel issues in the winter.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
need to find out is it a tdci or tddi engine? and bump starting is a bit no on both engines as the timing chain will jump a tooth or 3 if you bump starting..Also if tdci make sure its a tdci filter..
And before buying anything else get the codes read0 -

First thing the OP told us :cool:0 -
Ok, have tried to do a bit of research and testing. Code reader still hasn't arrived but will prob leave in with mechanic tomorrow for a check.
After watching a youtube vid which said that problems are either spark or fuel based, I followed advice of using a quick squirt of easy start - I know _ and the engine fired on second turn of key, then shut off 4 or 5 seconds later. So I assume by this that spark is fine to engine.
When I get car fired tho, no rev comes off the accelerator for maybe 15 seconds - as if no combustion is taking place of the fuel. I watched another vid on purging air from system, as it was said that this could be causing the rough start and smoke, so went through each injector this morning, loosening each one, turning key, and seeing that they were all getting fuel through ok, so there doesn't seem to be a problem up to this stage.
Being a layperson, this would imply that the fuel pump is working fine at getting fuel to injectors.
Perhaps the injectors are worn out tho?0 -

If it fired with easystart then 4-5 seconds later stopped then it is fuel related.
Also no response from accelarator means no fuel.
You have no spark as its diesel, no spark plugs.
It sounds like either pump problem, ie low pressure, or air leak allowing diesel to run back to tank overnight leaving fuel lines emptyIf it isn't broken, don't try to fix it.0 -
Bump starting may have caused the chain to jump so the timing maybe out.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
