Anybody bought a new iPhone 4S with iOS7?

Can anybody tell me their experience of the battery performance of a new 4S running iOS7?

I have a 2 year old iPhone 4S which I upgraded to iOS7.

The battery was fine with iOS6. With iOS7 it is having battery problems such as rebooting and showing the charge warning at 47%.
I have adjusted the settings to use as little battery as possible.

Apple quote £55 for a new battery. I'm asking the question about how new 4S performs in case it is a software and not a battery issue.

Thanks
SB

Wouldn't surprise me if it was the upgrade.
I noticed it was a little worse when upgraded to ios6.
    You can't go back though!
  • You could try doing a full reset and clean install of all your apps and accounts from scratch (ie don't recover from a backup) as this can get rid of glitches that can crop up from time to time (that may also be in your backup). Its a bit of a faff to do this as you will lose game saves etc etc but can help. Just make sure you have your contacts and calendars etc synced.

The operating system does not use more battery power, it's your apps that are causing the problem.
Turn off location services for apps that don't need it.
Close programs when they are not in use
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

Madness. I bought a 4S off t'Bay and installed iOS7 and works fine. But given the mobis age, I got a new battery and toolkit of Amazon for under £10. It really is easy to change yourself - loads of vids on Youtube etc!

I'm running IOS 7 on an iPhone 4 and it's fine.

The location services really eat battery though, so if you're running that (eg. in QuidCo app or a Sat Nav) then you can almost see the battery level indicator going down.

(That also happens on my iPhone 5.)

    Hi

The very first release of IOS 7 ate my battery to.

I used the following link to turn off a few things which helped.

Thanks - have already addressed location services and programs not in use.

I don't agree about the OS not affecting power use. The OS manages plenty of non app processes that will draw down the battery i.e. parallax graphic transitions or allowing apps to refresh in background.

IOS 7 has multi-tasking, which means that apps you run continue to run in the background, even after you run up a new one. Those backgrounded apps are still doing things and using power.

You can double-click the button on the front of the phone to bring up the list of running apps, and then to stop them you just push the ones you don't want running upwards and they disappear off the screen.
