It is quite simple really, if you are fully aware of this scam and its origins then this whole thread is completely irrelevant to you, so pay not attention, stop belittling "fools" that get caught up in such things and move along to another thread, simples!
If this thread reaches even 1 person who is not aware of such things and is offered and "easy money" opportunity then my 5 minutes in writing and responding have been worthwhile, unlike your helpful contributions!
I have made this thread to offer a heads up to people who may well have not heard of this kind of thing, yes it has been around for a long time but so has other scams that people fall for on a daily basis, as my posts are meant in a helpful way I really do not understand why you feel the need to even reply, if you are fully aware and would never fall for such foolishness, that's great, you should not be a victim of such scams, maybe you could now go and contribute something useful and relevant to you on another thread?
I have nothing else to add, I have done what I wanted to do and as I said it is simply information, do with it as you wish, not at all complicated to understand."You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -
Your OP specifically said this type of scam would be on the increase. My question was why do you think this.
English is not my first language and my query was specific to your statement. It remains unanswered but was clearly the entire OP.
It is NOT likely to increase as it has been around for ages.
Scams are ten a penny and whilst it does not hurt to highlight them once in a while it wasn't my query. Perhaps be careful what you write if you don't want it questioned. Better still, read what is replied.0 -

I answered your question in an earlier post."You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -

What where you said that OP was a fool!UnderPressure wrote: »This may well be true, there were some changes recently to Paypal "way" of doing things, it was primarily (I think not a great mind on these things) to stop a certain way people were using accounts to trade on ebay and other sites after they had previously been banned for wrong doings, there was a big website that upto a couple of weeks ago used to sell fully verified ebay and paypal accounts, all confirmed with bank details and ready to trade, this "change" paypal made put all of this sites clients out of business over night. Naturally these guys have been trading thousands and thousand of dollars and pounds for a long time and now want to find another way of being able to continue to trade hence why this kind of scam has now come to light. There WILL be more, a LOT more of this kind of thing.
OP I cannot stand Paypal, in fact I hate them with a passion but that is a whole other thread, you have been a fool but in these times I can understand why this quick money opportunity made sense to you, you will be liable for everything, I hate to say this I really do but you may be better off contacting paypal uk customer service, you can get the phone number by using the contact us link on their site, I would be telling them the truth, to a certain degree you are a victim here so hopefully they will see it that way, I have heard from various sources that they do not really like involving the police in matters, I cannot guarantee this but it would be in your interest to come forward now and tell them what has happened before their fraud department gets on the case.
They will probably ban you from paypal forever but if I am being honest apart from not being able to use Ebay that is probably a good thing! I would be wary of contacting your bank, you could reports cards lost and cancel direct debit but if they get a clue of any kind of fraud they are sure to contact the police, if the police do get involved then tell the truth, this is all you can do.
I would also get in touch with the admin of the "big forum" you mentioned and let them know what has happened with this long standing member so they can make sure he is not trying to lure other members to do the same.
Good luck!
This scam is as old as the ark itself.
And you have double standards accusing others of calling those who fall for it fools, when that is your opening gambit on the OP in that thread.
I cant see where you can prove it's on the increase, other than there are more fools born very minute.
So it's new to you, big deal.
If people want to do this, it's because of greed and stupidity. There are loads more in the queue, of both scammers and fools.0 -
