Nothing new there at all, this money laundering malarkey has been in existence even before PayPal.

I am always amazed that anyone still falls for it.

Not necessarily a troll, as I explained in the thread. Either way it is a scam that will become more prevalent over the coming months. Just trying to give you hard working Ebayers a heads up, it is up to you if you take it or not.............

I agree however it may not be anything new to the experienced amongst us but to newer traders or smaller traders or even anyone with a Paypal account it is a threat that has been around for a while but is set to probably increase over the coming weeks / months. The site I mentioned in the thread that was selling the ebay and pp accounts had thousands of clients that are all looking for ways to release money and carry on trading.

It is information that could potentially save some peeps a big nightmare, do with it as you wish.

Seriously this is not new, most people have been aware of this type of things for decades, the scammers just use PayPal now as people seem happier using that than giving out bank details. In the bad old days this used to be done with cheque payments and yes people did get prosecuted for money laundering.

Anyone who uses PayPal should at east have a basic understanding of how it works and what seller protection is available.

    Why?

It's been around for as long and fools and their money can be parted. It will be around long after those fools have gone and others appear.

Yes, they should but sadly not everyone does, as said the potential for an increase in this kind of scam at the moment is huge, and with people looking to make some extra easy money it could be a tempting proposition to some, I thought it a good idea to post it here as a lot of readers of this board are exposed to PP in 1 way or another.

As said some free information do with it as you wish.

Read my first post in the quoted thread I gave an explanation there.

I would not class all innocent victims of fraud as "fools", each to their own.

I am asking why you think it's on the increase. Your title says 'heads up' which might just infer you didn't know about it, fair enough.

But it has been a round for decades and there is NOTHING to suggest it will increase ......

Most 'innocent' victims of this type of scam are fools if not all. Basically it comes down to greed and common sense.
