If you can't get another 0% deal after 29 months this could be a very expensive mistake.
  • When I was doing this sort of thing, I had an offset mortgage in place to ensure that if I couldn't roll over the Balance Transfer onto another card, I could request a drawdown from my offset fund and pay off the credit card.

It might be worth considering, particularly when your current fixed-rate deal expires.
    Mortgage Feb 2001 - £129,000
    Mortgage July 2007 - £0
Original Mortgage Termination Date - Nov 2018
    Mortgage Interest saved - £63790.60
    ISA Profit since Jan 1st 2015 - 98.2% (updated 1 Dec 2020)
  • Thanks very much guys for your replies. As I said it was an option that I was just thinking about. I was planning to pay about £5-7k, but if it works out more expensive that the current mortgage, then it's obviously not worth it.
  • Most won't accept credit card payments. Which mortgage provider?

I have paid lump sums before on credit card, and made cashback of 1 per cent on the credit card.
