Taking something back to a shop on a gift receipt

Two receipts, wife had gift receipt and I had the normal receipt. I stepped in with the normal receipt when the lower amount was mentioned. It's just a mention so anyone else in a similar situation is on their guard.0 -

Just be aware if you try and change something on a gift receipt.
I suspect if the price had increase you would not be offered more... I assume it's a one way street.
