O/S Daily Sunday 29th December 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning,
Been missing a few days, just been busy getting things sorted after Christmas. Bought the girls a dolls house bookshelf for the front room (from my gran), I filled it with hard paged books, and normal books which are small and don't get read much... Oh and as it's a dolls house I filled the top shelf with teddies. It freed up half a toy box and the a quarter of the upstairs bookshelf. I love it, I love having my girls read...
...so now I have to buy new books to put upstairs
So today we are getting ready to leave early. I need to hit MrA for Wellies and slippers for DD1 (who at 23m is already size 7!!!), MrS & Next to upsize a few gifts which came in too small. Then we're off to my Mum & Dads for Christmas
I hope everyone has a great day xxxWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Still dark outside, so not sure what the temperature is like, but sky was clear - so possibly cold with a frost.
DH awake and enjoying a peaceful cuppa with me. DS1 and DS2 still fast asleep in their pits. DS2 said he didn't feel very well yesterday - think it's a mixture of too many late nights and the fact that on occasions he doesn't eat properly and drink enough - he went to bed at 6pm last night - I've been checking on him through the night (he doesn't seem to have woken or moved about much!) .
Dinner last night was chicken and turkey curry, rice, naans, poppadums and extras - all was lovely. Lunch today is going to be gammon, potatoes, veg etc.
We went to visit mum and dad and the outlaws. Sis and bil were getting ready to go home - it's a 6 hour drive - so a long way and a long time for the kids to sit quietly - but they do seem to be ok with it, they live a long way from all us and bil's family so travelling is necessary. Think she's really looking forward to going home as my bro and sil are going down for several days over New Year - so be good for them to catch up. Went to visit our friends too, we're going to their house for drinks and eats on New Year's Eve - we'll get a taxi home.
DH spoke to his dad about his sister and asked if she'd said anything about us upsetting her as we haven't had so much as a Xmas card from them - FIL and MIL then proceed to tell us that they haven't seen nephew since the summer - they have sent him 2 lots of money for his holidays and haven't had a phone call or thank you note, they haven't spoken to him either. Nephew was supposed to be with his mum and her partner for Boxing Day and FIL and MIL were expecting a phone call or visit so they could see him, but have heard nothing. SIL visited FIL and MIL on the Sunday before Xmas - without her son and when MIL asked where he was (they wanted to see him as they haven't for so long) they were told he was with his dad (they parted 3/4 years ago and she had him full time, and he visited his dad's for weekends and sometimes a night in the week). FIL and MIL are thinking that maybe he's living with his dad full time and she's not really seeing him - she's a bit strange and I've always found her incredibly hard work - she always maintained she didn't want children then decided she did - had this 1 lad and was always ready to shove him off to any childcare facility she could find - she hasn't worked since before she had him (due to an industrial injury - it's unlikely she'll ever be able to work again) - and would always put him in any childcare she could find for the whole of any school holidays, before school and after school. He was on a school holiday visit to his dad's when he developed chicken pox the day before he was due to go home (her house) when his dad rang to tell her - she bluntly told him that if he wasn't well she didn't want him back and his dad would have to take time off work and look after him - which he duly did. He's always done majority of the childcare/looking after him when they were together from when nephew was born, he also did majority of the housework and cooking etc. Not quite sure what's going on but MIL says she's going to find out. Ex-bil has now also sold the house and moved in with a new partner and we don't have his address/tel. no. and neither do MIL and FIL - when they asked if they could have the new details they were told Ex-bil didn't see the need for them to know!? All sounds a bit strange to me - maybe I'm just suspicious!?
Have a peaceful Sunday everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning :santa2:
Those few hours by myself yesterday were bliss. Almost all the washing is dry and the house is tidy. I spent the afternoon surrounded by yarn, notebooks and chocolateI need to perfect my lists, they're at the 'jotted down' stage atm
And our friends cancelled last night – hangovers

It's frosty outside and we have nowhere to go, we'll probably just potter about the house. Mr tru walked in while I was watching HP Deathly Hallows the other day, he said he wouldn't mind seeing them all again. So we dug the DVDs out and have been watching one a day.
I've just realised I haven't got a 2014 calendar. I'll have a play around on the computer and see if I can make a half-decent one. I want a diary too so will have a go at that.

Morning. Ever get into that vicious present circle where you buy because they buy etc? Well we've had that with bil and sil for a while. We rarely see them so never know what to get them and we don't really like bil, just sil. Anyway this year they just didn't buy anything without mentioning they wanted to stop presents. So we've sent our presents over already. I can see an amazon voucher arriving in the post and the cycle begins again! I want hubby to tell his brother just to buy for the kids, as we still want to get simething for niece and nephew. He always forgets though. And I feel straight after Xmas is a bit tactless.
Ugh present politics!0 -
Morning all
Sat with a cuppa , no one else is up yet and it's so peaceful.
DH went to bed in a huff last night , not really sure why, that's men for you , anyhoo he was asleep when I went to bed and he's still asleep , hopefully he will wake up in a better mood
DD2 is off to work , DD1 will take her as it's difficult to park at the shopping centre when the sales are on. So that leaves me a free day.
I need to tidy up and do more washing and ironing . My back is playing me up , I need to sit with a hot water bottle on it to help it unstiffen for a bit then I'll be raring to go
Have a good day everyone xx0 -

We had that with a friend I haven't seen for ages , still sending presents through the post, so I text her asking if we could just do cards as our financial situation has taken a turn for the worse and she happily agreed saying her husband had been off work with an injury and they too were struggling , we ended up texting and chatting and having a catch up So all good . It may be worth asking them x0 -
Hey all.
Planning a nice lazy day today, OH is working from home so it's nice he is in the house instead of having to go into the office! Our house is a little chilly so I'm staying in bed for the foreseeable future! lol!

Good morning everyone
Cold and bright here and have some washing out, even if it does not get dry, it will smell fresh.
Lazy day planned here. I want to sort out my wool stash and read a book and just relax. May do some ebay listing later as it's free listing until 5th January, so no excuse not to list a few items per day for the next week.
Not much else going on, DD is having a bit of a tantrum about going out on New Years Eve but I am letting her get on with it.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning all
I'm finally feeling proper better, did some knitting last night & arranging to see the DGC's one at a time over the next few days.
Molly, hope things are getting better for you, LW any furry visitors due? Hi Tatabubbly. Hugs to PP, Hilstep & anyone else in need.
Hubby's having a lazy start to the day as he met a friend for a drink last night, he didn't drink much but there was a problem with the buses, so I collected him from the local retail park as he couldn't get any nearer and didn't fancy walking 2 miles home.
I finally got round to watching Call the Midwife & recorded Moonfleet, I loved that book, read it in my first year as secondary school.
Have a good day everyone.

DS2 has gone back, DS1 is still with us as he has lots of friends still here so we are going for a walk to blow away some of his cobwebs this morning
Dinner will be reduced gammon from Mr T.
Off to get coldI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
