  • Pinot noir.....I got that book from DH for Christmas! Its where my nye lentils are coming from, and maybe something else.....its a lovely book, gentle and sensible. :).

I love the fact that, unlike a lot of other cookbooks at the moment, the recipes aren't something I would have thought to cook myself and don't require a larder full of hard to source ingredients you will never use again! I am thinking of joining the OS Board's "cook everything in one of your cookbooks" challenge and picking it as my choice. The only issue is that I currently live in the Middle East so the sections on pork and foraging may be a bit tricky to achieve in the desert! :rotfl:

    Omg,but the food out there....?

    I am a cook book addict :o.

Fwiw, DH and I have a little in store test we put books through before buying them to make sure we don't come home with duff ones now. As regards ingredients if I understand the flavours I'll quite happily substitute something hard to source with something else that will "do the same thing" for consistency and 'tone' of flavour......so I might not have the odd vinegar they want but in my collection of odd vinegars I'll have something that 'will do'. If the fish becomes a favourite then its worth buying the right vinegar.....sometimes it makes a difference, sometimes by substitutions have improved the dish :o

:rotfl: It would be if OH had his way!

It's filled with potatoes, onion and butter (and cheese in this house), bit of a Lancashire specialty I believe. I usually use this recipe http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/potato_and_butter_pie_93603 none of this mushroom gravy or spinach business though :D
