Question About Porting Mobile Number

I have an easy to remember number on an old PAYG SIM card that I seldom use, however it is still active.
My wife is about to swap service providers (PAYG again). Her new network will be different to my old SIM. Her existing number is difficult to remember and she does not wish to take it with her.
Would it be possible for me to obtain a PAC from my old network and transfer the number to her? I know people sell memorable numbers on auction sites so I guessing it is possible. Would be grateful for confirmation from any knowledgeable!
Many thanks.

I can't see any problems.
You will loose the credit on the memorable number when you port it but that is about the limit of the foreseeable problems.
Get a PAC from the network with the memorable number, take out the new PAYG SIM then port the number to it.
I don't think the different names would be an issue but if it were, you could get the new PAYG SIM.
I don't know who you are going to but often it is easier to order online.0 -
The new network could not care less what name the original number was registered to, and indeed under data protection law would have no way of knowing.
They assume that if you are able to obtain the PAC from the old network you have the authority to use it however you want.0 -
That's good news from both of you. Thanks!0
