Speeding fixed penalty (Scotland)

This is all rather academic because I will probable just pay up and take the punishment - however the number plate on the CoFP is presumably wrong because they entered it in their system wrongly so would they not then need to use that in court? and repeat the error on any summons?

Yes, but you'd go to court not guilty. They'd amend the error and then what?0 -
Do you live in Scotland?0

Appreciate the advice but how do we / the court know that there was not a vehicle with a similar number plate that they clocked but they pulled me over by mistake? or some other sequence of errors involving the clocking of the car with the number plate on the notice (or a car which was one digit different from the no on the notice that was not mine etc…). I'm surprised that they could simply change the registration number in court…

What's your point?
You don't deny speeding so the cheapest option is the £100 ticket.0 -
The allegation is that you were driving a car at a speed above the limit. That allegation is either true or false. What registration number the car had, what colour it was or what type of leather it had on the seats are all incidental details which are irrelevant to your guilt or innocence. They'll have no trouble proving that it was you that they stopped since they (presumably) saw you, took your details and saw your licence, and anyway you could hardly deny that it was you without committing perjury.0

OP, you'd be better off asking this question on pepipoo.com if you want an informed answer. What goes around - comes around0

Not sure what the risks are in going to court - anyone know if the penalties are actually greater?
Ooro
They were for me. I challenged the penalty in court (on what I thought were solid grounds) and my £90 fixed penalty magically became a fine of £150 and £90 costs on top.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
Maximum fine in court is £1000 (£2500 if on a motorway) and 3-6 points or a discretionary ban. Actual penalty would depend to some extent on your income and your speed. In Scotland thee are at least no costs to pay if you lose, but you can't claim your own if you win either.0
