If you hit any pedestrian from a moving vehicle, the claim will be paid.
If she wakes up and decides to make a claim and she can, you hit a pedestrian, legally you are liable, what she says is worth jack.
Then you will wish a thousand times over you picked up the phone and called your insurance.
Even though she told the Police it was her fault?

Would that not reduce or even make her claim fail?

Thanks for all the replies. I will ring my insurance company and report this.

    Thanks everyone.

    Maybe he's talking crap.

If she admitted liability at the scene, great, if the police have that in their statement, great. If she does decide to turn around and take you to court when she has a niggle in her shoulder then it can only work in your favour.

Your insurance company will take the incident number for their system. If you advise them it is for information only and you are not making a claim against her (which I doubt you would), then you still may see a change in your premium on renewal, buy much less than the sting if you fail to disclose.

    Thanks rhysowen9

I do have No Claims protection on my Policy, so presumably that will help?

If she makes a claim in the future, will, whoever is representing her, write to me and ask me to contact my Insurance company?

If so, until I hear something am I right in thinking that no claim has been made.

In which case at renewal if asked,

Have you had any accidents? the answer has to be yes.

Have you had any claims? if I hear nothing then is the answer no.

    Have I got that right?

    Thanks for your help.

Yes, it will preserve your no claims bonus at renewal. However, the base price of your policy will go up, to reflect the increased risk that the insurers think* you pose, so you end up paying more.

*Yes, logically you will be extra careful now in the same circumstances, and therefore are less likely to have the same sort of accident, but that isn't how insurance risk assessment works.

Sudden bout of amnesia, After a few people have said make a claim. They can contact the police to make a new statement.

Shock, Concusion, Amnesia has passed and they now say the driver was to blame.

    100% inform your insurance ASAP...

OP how can you not see a pedesterian walking out??? You can spot pedestrians walking out from miles away, the only idiots I have problems with are cyclists who are on their bycyclits riding on pavements as if they're pedestrians.

Had one dart out from almost nowhere once and had to slam on my emergcy brakes. Deep inside I wish I run over these !!!!!! once to teach them a lessons. Insurance will probably take my side because they were riding illegally and there's no way for my to react or even expect someone to fly out from the side like that.

By pedestrians on foot you can spot them miles away, if you see someone coming out off the footpath onto the road and not looking at you for hazard you should stop the car or hit your horn to alert them that you're driving on/

She ran out not walked and she started running when I was about 2 feet away from her. Up to that point she had her back to the road and was facing her car she had just parked. She hit my front nearside wing and even you would have struggled to not hit her.

She told anyone that would listen that it was her fault. She said she started running because she wanted to go into the store for the toilet.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm reporting it to my insurance.
