Hope you are starting to think about your goals for 2015? It's only 17 days until the 1st of January!

I'm thinking of keeping my list short but sweet that are going to be realistic. With the arrival of mini NYD, I think I will have my hands full coping with that! Still, there is always room for self focus.

  • A little review :)

    Excellent thread,

    My goals for 2014 are

    1. Finish and submit my dissertation DONE
    2. Finish my Tefl course deferred
    3. Pay off the credit cards - 8000? - didn't borrow anymore and current debt at 3100
    4. Declutter and reorganise the whole house. work in progress, slow painful progress.
    5. Save 5000. - did that
    6. Be good at my job - be organised, confident. - doing better, actually had many compliments and felt good marking some exams today.
    7. Get a boyfriend. a nice kind solvent (!) man. - no but have officially given up on dating, so the issue is resolved.
    8. Loose two stone. - nope this is something that needs tackling next year
    9. Complete a half marathon - nope, did a 5 km as normal. a half doesn't appeal really!
    10. Drive on the motorway - nope but am driving further a field.
    11. Make and keep male friends - nope
    12. Write. everyday. yes.

    I think that covers it.

    XX

Generally, although there are a lot of nopes (!) I am pretty happy, I feel this year has shown me I can cope with change, the unknown and making new friends. I am doing better than I was and think I do have things to look forward too. My priorities changed and I have got stuff done in the house and garden, not increased my debt and have got some good savings habits.

    So not bad really.

thanks for running the thread NYD and loads of luck and love for the new arrival XXXX
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Thank NYD, love this thread & counting down the days for the next one so I can make my list of goals & start working on them!!

  • The final update for 2014 from me...

    1) Pay off all my debt
Managed at the end of July :D
    2) Save £8000 towards a house deposit
Not quite managed. Have saved over 4.5k but went a little crazy buying new clothes, replacing the laptop and having a massive car bill to pay but better than nothing

    3) Exercise twice a week
Have done really well with this one, except when sick. I actually consider myself a runner now, rather than just someone who wheezes their way round the park :D

    4) Tone up my tummy (don't need to lose weight as such but everything's a bit less firm than it used to be and I'd like to change this)
That one's going back on next year's list :o

    5) Pass the next module on my course
I've been really bad with this. No time pressure means I have faffed. Need to do better :(
    6) Make more of an effort to socialise
Up and down here, still room for improvement

    7) Have a holiday
Actually managed two- a weekend at the beach in the UK and a week in Scandanavia :D

So, all in all, a bit of a mixed bag. However, this challenge has shown me what I can do if I focus on goals. Maybe I need to do fewer for 2015.

Update from me 1. Get sugar control (I'm diabetic)
some almost inevitable backsliding. am determined that this one will be kicked to touch in 2015.

    2. put savings in best place possible
see sig.we now have £8k earning 1.3% more pa than our mortgage costs. Still hold £1k in current account and have £201 in cash & regular saver ISA with £1750 @ 2.09% more than mortgage

    3. Make mortgage annual overpayments equivalent to 4x monthly payment plus interest
i did it! i did it!

    4. Lose weight. .
am afraid, am very afraid but will do weigh in on 01 Jan, am prob a few pounds heavier than last year

    5. Declutter
three things to go to charity shop today and have identified a shelf of books that we've all agreed can go. this is a major one for next year.
    6. Take garden in hand
    Fundamentally lazy
    7. expand 'flylady' daily routines
    I wish
    8. Get rid of ugly clothes bought because they fit and not cos they were nice.
    it's slow but it's happening
    9. Appreciate my home and make it nicer
    see 5 and 6.
10.be more disciplined in my job
    babysteps

    11. Be less wasteful
    Ok I suppose

    12. Donate
spalshed out on bodyshop offers, scarves and gloves pre christmas for a homeless shelter that a friend volunteers in

    13. eat out less, fewer takeaways (inc lunch)
nothing at all over the past week

    14. Move, as in exercise, at least twice a week
    zilch

  • Fantastic successes this year!! Well done everyone!!

The 2015 thread will be open for business on 1 January 2015!

I have been tinkering around with my goals for the past few days, drafting, redrafting and refining them as I go. I don't want too many but I want them to be meaningful and stretching for my own benefit. Think I'm there now.

Looking forward to sharing the journey with you all in 2015.
