I ordered a pay monthly sim from O2 and received a bill on Monday charging for line rental from that date. The sim turned up on Tuesday moring. I emailed O2 suggesting that it was unfair to charge me rental when I did not yet have use of the sim but they will not budge claiming in their t&C as soon as the sim is activated - which is apparently the day they ship it - line rental is payable. I guess I should just be thankful that it only took one day to come...
I think....

When I was on contract, I had same problem but I didn't email them I rung them and argued that how can I be expected to pay monthly line rental when I hadn't even received the SIM card and I wish them to check their network records and prove to me that the SIM card was activated the day they sent it (I assumed their network engineers could check when a sim card has been activated (ie used). They didn't check and apologised and agreed to refund the equivalant to a days line rental.

If you're on o2 Online (ordered via their website or rung up and you get 500texts) then ring 01349 887193. When they answer they'll tell you its a 50ppm call and do you have permission to use the phone, etc - just reply yes.

If you're on the ordinary o2 (from retail stores, e2save, etc and you only get around 50texts) then ring 0161 7055000 and ask for Customer Services.
