CityLink do the "you are not the customer" routine.
I had an attempted delivery from them when I wasn't in, and the card said they would try again next day. I phoned and told them not to try next day as I wouldn't be in then either, and they told me that their contract was with the sender and only the sender could change the terms. So sure enough they tried delivering the next day. The end result was that I had to drive to their "local" depot, which was in a town further away than the address the item was coming from!
Another time I had a failed delivery and when I said I'd like to collect it and they said that I couldn't, as it would be in the van overnight, and the driver would try delivering next day around about the same time (when I wouldn't be in!).
Due to the above issues, I set the first line of my address in ebay to "Do not use CityLink.".0
