O/S Daily Friday 27th December 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Evening everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Now light here, wet underfoot and blustery - weatherman says it should get drier later and less blustery - we'll see!
DH up and gone to work. I've showered and just finished my brekkie.
DS2 is now moving about but DS1 is still in his pit fast asleep.
Dinner tonight will be LO turkey, sliced ham, salad, jacket potatoes, sausage rolls etc - clearing up contents of the fridge. Once I've stripped the meat from the turkey carcass, I will be getting that put in a pan with some veg to make some stock. Will then also be making some sausage rolls and mince pies.
Had a lovely day yesterday - went to mum and dad's and had a light lunch - then we piled into cars and went to the Woods and had a lovely walk - was rather muddy and wet in places but there was lots of people about getting some fresh air - although the weather wasn't brilliant - was quite misty, damp with a cold wind. We then all went back to mum and dad's and my sisters' had decided on the gammon and a whole salmon, with potatoes, veg etc, with my contribution of HM cheesecake and HM profiteroles - all was eaten and enjoyed. The gammon was especially good - I've already found the recipe and will be trying it as the meat was really succulent and juicy and not at all dry.
Today's to do list says - I need to go to the bank and building society, pick up some milk, sliced meats, and 1 or 2 other bits - not much though. Also need to do some washing, drying and ironing, and run the hoover over.
Will be endeavouring to find some time to start researching some recipes and writing a menu plan so I'm getting organised and hoping to get us out of this food rut.
Keep safe and well x

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]Christmas telly is rubbish, apart from Harry PotterWe recorded The Santa Clause the other day, we'll probably watch that later. I bought it when it first came out – on video
We actually still have a working video player but it won't connect to the telly in the lounge. I'm hoping The Santa Clause 2 is on so I can record that too. Then I can write them both to DVD. We have the third film on DVD so we're OK for that one

Morning.
Bit windy last night  hope everyone is OK and still intact.
About to jump in shower before I go walk Luna.
Not sure what plans are today, kids need to get out somewhere. DS is bouncing off the walls a little so a wee run around somewhere is in order.
No idea about tea, need to get back into the swing of things clearlyonly have a tiny bit of turkey left which I might hide at back of fridge so it's all mine <cackles evilly>
Sat writing plans last night, feeling fired up about achieving stuff in 2014. Let's see if this feeling can last longer than New Year's Day :rotfl::rotfl:

Hi all, hope you have all had lovely Christmases, whatever you were doing!
We had a lovely, if somewhat hectic, day!
Yesterday we went to BF's mums again for a leftovers meal. BF's brother has friends over from Germany for a week so it was nice to meet them.
Today we are planning to head into town, but it depends on the weather. The storms are starting to hit the north east now, and it doesn't sound great outside...
Hope everyone has a good day and stays safe and warm.the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Morning All
Wet and blowy here, hope this is as bad as it gets and trust that you are all safe, well and dry.
DD has gone off to work, the trains are a bit dodgy so she took the car part way. Bought some material yesterday and have hemmed it to make another table cloth. May try a hot water bottle cover later, I have a cheap fleece and some ribbon so will have a play with the new machine.
Tea last night was mussels (L!dl) and cheese and hm low carb crackers made out of ground almonds - very nice but I think I should make them thinner next time. Will make chicken casserole tonight, have the need for normal food and veggies!
Going to get DDs prescription today but apart from that not much happening, managed to empty a couple of boxes yesterday so may do some more unpacking.
Bought a new cast iron casserole dish (half price in Sainsbobs), used my nectar points so it cost me £2.50! Also got a DAB radio which works fine as long as I don't stand in front of it - DD can stand there and nothing happens but I seem to do something to it!!
Have a good day, take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
It's very wild and windy here, it might turn into a pj day. There is nothing desperately needed. We ate the leftover lamb last night in a curry which was delish, especially as I didn't make it:j
Tonight's tea is probably going to be turkey in onion gravy with chips and peas.
We have half a trifle and cheesecake and some orange cake so plenty of choice for pud.
Dh and dd3 still in bed, myself my dd and DGS are busy building the playmobil castle.
Lots of things I want to achieve this year including more crochet, less weight and getting myself and my leg healthier again. And if course reducing our debt.
I'm also going to try and be kinder both to myself and others. I know its a bit early for New Years resolutions but I'm always the same once Boxing Day is out of the way.
Anyway enough waffle, off to read the leftovers thread. Bfn x
Bitsy we cross posted, I'm obviously not the only one making plans for the new year lolStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Good morning all,
Wet and windy here today.
Washing machine is on. Ironing to do. Will run the hoover round in a bit. Business as usual today.
tru, agree with you about the telly. It hasn't been that great.
The leftover turkey was put in the freezer last night. A few meals there.
Tea tonight is spag bol. Nice to have something other than turkey.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Good morning everyone
Wild, wet and windy here, I want to stay indoors but GDD wants to go and spend her Christmas money on clothes. Oh and wants to go to McDonalds for breakfast too, very non-MSE. She may change her mind when she actually sees the weather,
Had a lovely evening, eating pate and bread/toast then cheese and biscuits, watching films and building GDD's 3D jigsaw of Tower Bridge. No idea what we are going to do with it now as it's massive and is currently taking up most of the dining table!
Catch up TV does not seem to be working for BBC1, I am not impressed as I want to watch Last Tango in Halifax and Call the Midwife. If they don't fix it, I will have to watch them on the computer. Was looking forward to Downton Abbey today but the reviews in yesterday's paper completely put me off saying it was only good for inducing a snooze! I will give it a go and see what I think.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning all
NMLC, permanently in a food rut here, hubby only like a few set meals & hates it if I change anything.
Wet & blustery here, lets hope we don't get any more of next doors furniture visiting, it causes way too much damage!
We are going over to DD's for lunch today & will take their gifts over with us.
Apart from that I have another lazy day planned, I have no energy, all I'm managing is the WM & DW, I must wield the vacuum soon or we will be drowning in dust bunnies.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning Everyone (Evening nmlc)
So we're out of the other side of Christmas... All gifts have been given a home and tidied away already. The children did very well with gifts this year. We still have to visits mum on Sunday (as she was poorly last week) and I can say we've done well not getting any large gifts so far... So fingers crossed...
DS got an iPod Touch and has hardly been seen. DD1 got a huge doll and a buggy and a 'bike' and has been in heaven! DD2 just slept through most of it (she's 6 weeks today already)
And DH and I got the best gift... We got to sleep until 8am today
So today I need to do my washing, my ironing, a food shop (and buy some Christmas goodies for next year maybe) and I need to make a German cheesecake for tomorrow (we have friends over for a German themed meal).
Hope Everyone has a great day xWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240
