and the funny thing is my husband won't even fit on the new bed properly as it is only 6ft4 and he is 6ft5, at the sale price the kingsize is now only £5 more than the original double price

Would you like Argos to shorten him?

The following day the Christmas sale started and both the mattress and bed were greatly reduced, the lad in the store and the person he talked to on the phone would of been aware of this and it really annoys me that despite this being a fault with their product they were still after getting money out of me.

Staff wouldn't necessarily know which items were being reduced in the sale.

Highly unlikely they would know exact items.

An inkling things would be reduced after christmas? Yes... Like everyone else, including the OP.
  • I know I should of thought about the sales, but having just moved into a flat I was rushing to get it all sorted and as I had the day off work and had a break from unpacking it was more a thing of getting it sorted while I could.
Seem to be just trying to get a point where we aren't tripping over boxes so the passage of time seems to missing me at the moment, not sure if I would of even remembered Christmas if my mum did not keep reminding me that I had go to hers to cook her Christmas dinner, Arg

Sometimes the staff are the last to know what will be in a sale.

This. And the fact that retailers have so many different sales, often with lots of different items in them, that it would be impossible for the staff to know each item off the top of their heads.

The staff wouldn't know the beds were to be reduced. In Argos and Homebase each morning there are a list of prices printed off by a central computer. These can be increases or decreases and a designated person has to go round each morning and change them. I know this because I used to do this. It's not a conspiracy, the chap on the counter didn't know if the bed would be reduced but If you'd used a bit of common sense and went in on boxing day when the sales had started you could have given yourself a better chance of a bargain.
