Orange mobile rip off

Orange have been sending me bills claiming I now owe them over £100 despite ending my contract, transferring the number to a pay as you go SIM card and then putting that SIM card in the bin. I have been with a different provider for over 3 months. I already had to pay them for two months after my 24 month contract expired and definitely do not owe them a thing. I had a lot of hassle getting them to cancel the contract and am now really anxious about having to phone customer services AGAIN, as it took so much time and effort last time, for seemingly no reason. I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem?

Surely they give you some breakdown to substantiate their claim, do they not?Land_biscuit wrote: »Orange have been sending me bills claiming I now owe them over £100 despite ending my contract, ...
You really have to explain your problem in more detail if you are looking for a similar experience.0 -
It is very common for Orange to issue final bills after they have withdrawn access to your online bills, and they fail to notify you of a bill or to send you a bill via any means. Sometimes the first thing you know about the bill is when Orange's debt collectors, Moorcroft, contact you about an unpaid debt. This is an unreasonable way for Orange to conduct business, but they don't care because it only affects customers whom Orange have already lost.0

When you get the PAYG sim you have to physically register this. If you don't, the contract will stay live until you do. You would have been told this when you called to cancel.
If you were going to ditch the number, why didn't you just give 30 days notice instead of requesting to move the number to PAYG???
Expensive lesson.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0
