Gas prepayment meter battery fail on Christmas day and no matter how many phone numbers I call I get passed from automated pillar to post and cannot get anybody to actually sort out this problem. No gas supply, no heating or hot water, can't cook and we are freezing. This is an absolute disgrace !!!! How dare you leave customers in limbo, especially when we pay you astronomical prices !!!!! I cannot believe there is no way to contact an emergency helpline and get this problem solved.

One in 365 times eight or so of this happening. Too bad. At least it wasn't the electricity that went. You have no excuse for not having heating or hot water since only the gas meter has gone. You don't have a microwave or a toaster or a kettle? You don't have any friends or neighbours?
You should be praising Scottish Power for being closed at Christmas. (I wonder how many days they take off at Hogmanay?) You will have a story to tell and memories to laugh over. Or you can just sit their ranting and fuming in poor spirits.
Is this really the first indication of the battery failing? Or did you ignore all the warnings from weeks earlier?0 -
Yeah isn't there a warning light that's been telling you it's on the blink for weeks now?0

Dont you have a microwave so at least you can cook. Also borrow a electric heater might still have time to buy one in shops there not expensive0

Some peoples heating runs off their gas I would imagine and not their electricity, as for how many days they take off at Hogmanay I would imagine its around the same as they take off at Christmas.
My hot water comes from my gas boiler
Not everyone has neighbours they are on decent terms with.0 -
Yes, the fact that a utility has gone on the blink and you can't contact them is entirely your fault.
Why on earth should a national company which supplies essential services provide breakdown cover over Christmas?
Some people are just so self-self-self!0 -
Also, in case you had no access to the news, (gas powered radios and tvs?) there are some other slightly more important emergencies to which any skeleton staff should have and will have been attending.0
