Natural Anti Flea treatments

  • I also have always put garlic in both cat and dogs food. Just the end of a teaspoon for cats & a half teaspoon in my shepherds food. I buy jars of minced garlic cheap from my local Asian supermarket.

I have done this for 20+ years with all my cats & dogs & they have all been flea free! :D

Garlic is extremely toxic to both cats and dogs. It causes haemolysis of red blood cells.

Please at least google before giving substances such as these to animals. They do not have the same metabolisms as humans.
  • I must admit I had a look at natural flea treatments when mutt got fleas last month.

From what I learnt, brewer's yeast is supposed to be one treatment but you have to be extremely careful as some dogs are allergic to it can can cause all sorts of problems.....I did try it but when the OH made a comment about the mutt's stomach looking big, I stopped it immediately and haven't retried it - as much as he's a pain I don't want to cause him harm.

Also I think tea tree oil (very diluted) can be used but again the warnings about what can happen if you get it wrong put me off from trying - although I think eucalyptus oil is ok but again you need to be extremely careful
