O/S Thursday 26th December Boxing Day 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Evening everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Still dark here but seems fairly still and calm and not raining or a frost.
DH and I woke fairly early - so now enjoying a cuppa in peace.
Today we're going to my mum and dad's - not sure what we time we'll be going - possibly this morning. I got the desserts I'm taking finished yesterday evening - the chocolate sauce for the profiteroles can't be made until last minute so will do that just before we eat. Not entirely sure what we will be eating for main course - as I haven't had any input on that as I volunteered to organise desserts! There was talk of a gammon joint and salmon - I love both - but hope they did go with the salmon - my favourite!
Last night stayed awake to watch a couple of programmes I wanted to watch - settled down to watch them and promptly feel asleep 5 minutes into the first programme am so cross with myself - so I missed them - don't think the boys will have recorded them either!
Managed to get a quick chat with my brother yesterday morning and the boys were able to thank him for their gifts. Boys also rang to thank my parents and the outlaws. DH not happy with his sister as we've bought a gift as we always do for our nephew (we just buy for the children not the adults) and we haven't had so much as a xmas card from her - to be honest I'm not surprised and not that bothered - as far as I'm concerned it means that I don't need to have anything to do with them - other than what is necessary. DH is upset though because it was her partner that hit our garage door with his car, and didn't tell us (but I actually saw him do it - so knew what had happened, door and frame was so badly twisted that we had to have a new frame and door), then he got a grovelling text message a few months back, could DH help her move a couple of sofa's with a van - so DH went and did that (we would help anyone, friends or family if we can - as I think most people do). I also went to grandad's on Saturday afternoon to collect the prezzies for this area as he'd got himself in a muddle and made sure that the prezzies for her house were hand delivered so we knew that'd got them for nephew. We haven't had a blazing row or falling out with them - just are polite and distant if we see them - we were at the outlaws on Sunday morning when they turned up - we were just polite and distant. Don't think DH is going to keep quiet on this one though - I've said to him just let it go over your head - we know we've done nothing wrong - let her get on with it. She also hasn't been anywhere near grandad in months or rang him - she's becoming just like MIL. When DH and I were talking about it yesterday I've said we should let it go over our heads - and I wouldn't dream of not getting nephew a prezzie as he's only a child and not his fault but I'm certainly not impressed with her behaviour. It's certainly a true saying - you can choose your friends, but family you're stuck with!!
Have an enjoyable Boxing Day everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Hope yesterday was all you expected. Had a lovely day here, just DD and I - we went over the road to friends about 4 for a couple of hours and then came back to watch tv and play with our toys!!
Going to take DD into work this morning and I can then stop at dumelm m!ll on the way back for some material for table cloths (need to use my new sewing machine).
Have a good day, left overs for tea here so an easy day. Take care. XX0 -
Good morning all,
I hope everyone had a good day yesterday. It was just hubby, myself and the two girls yesterday. Both sets of parents and son and his gf came round in the morning but everyone had gone by about 11.30. Dinner was lovely. It was just a good day in general really.
Very misty here this morning. So wet and muddy too.
Taking the dog for a walk today as we didn't take him out yesterday. No other plans at all today. Just the four of us again. Dinner will be leftover turkey with chips, pickles and salad.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

We had a fab day. The others took ages to drag themselves downstairs, I was sat here bored. I went on FB and and realised I wasn't the only one – women were up and waiting while their families refused to wake upThey eventually surfaced not long before my mum and dad popped in, so they had to wait to open presents. I think we started at about 11am
We were waiting for the sales for a coffee machine, master tru bought us one for Christmas :T I had lots of choc, Soap & Glory, perfume, candles, a crochet book and some money. I'll probably buy a couple of new jumpers.
Miss tru has work today, she has to be there for 10am. The first bus will get her there 20 minutes late so mr tru is giving her a lift. Master and his GF are flitting about between her place, ours and her parents. I'll put some washing on in a mo and hang it to dry in the bedroom, out of the way. I'll slice and freeze half the turkey and ham, leaving the rest to nibble on for the next couple of days. Then - nothing. All day

Happy Boxing day morning to you all!
I had a lovely day yesterday and I hope you all did too.
I am a bit sad today as we are driving the eldest two back to London this morning as they have to be back at work. At least this year they didn't have to work Xmas eve so I have seen them for two whole days
It all seems to pass by so quickly doesn't it? Lots of preparation and anticipation and then 'whoosh' and the day is gone.
Leftover meat for tea tonight
Enjoy today.0 -
Morning everyone
Yesterday was a fantastic day. H spoilt me rotten with a new watch, necklace, book and a DSLR camera. Only a basic one but it's brilliant and I can't wait to take some fab pics with it
Kids were very happy with their presents, my parents came down and we all had a lovely time. Turkey butterfly was delish and have a little bit left so I do fancy turkey and chips for tea
Have loads of chocs and biscuits to get through  am sure the kids will help with that one.
had a rubbish sleep, overtired, a bit wired, DD woke and then had horrendous cramp that woke me at 7am. Restful lie in? naaaaaah
Going to walk Luna in a minute, it's very foggy her but looks to be clearing a bit.
Have a wonderful Boxing Day everyone
Hugs and spoons all round xI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning All
nmic families can be a PITA.
Had a lovely day yesterday no arguments, or problems. Went to see DH's 2 GNephews (+ N&NiL) which was good, then went on to see my GBeice & GNephew (+ N&NiL) the same, kids a little younger, and more manic, they loved the hats, plus their bag of goodies. They didn't want anything big, so got then a bag of all sorts, DGNephew 4.3/4, is a star, and sat with DH for ages making a Lego model fire truck, man and tree we got him, DH guiding him, showing him how to sort then into colours, and then count the spots on the plan then to look for a piece with the same spots, must have sat their 3/4 of an hour and no tantrums or getting bored, and made it great. DGNiece 11.1/2 got alsorts too some nail varnishes and lip glosses, and pretty notebook and pen, and true to form before we left she was writing in it. She also loved her hat and declared she was wearing it to my brothers (their grandad) today. That will go down like a lead balloon with them, but it is their fault they don't communicate, we haven't fell out, and Nephew has told them, it's nothing to do with him, he and I get on great, and his wife is brill. She lost her Mum just before GDNephew was born, and talks to me about her, as SIL isn't the most sympathetic of ears. My Neice is incommunicado too, and her 3 kids miss out big style.;). They also got an outfit each from us and I will bet they are on tomorrow too. Yes i admit it do spoil them, but more grateful, and polite children who appreciate what they get, as do their parents. We always say no presents for us, but always get us a box of biscuits as a thank you for what we do, nothing special, but it is the thought, and we appreciate that. I always take the adults a small present too, a pack of Haribo for DNephew, who always pinches a sweet from the kids, and I tell him he has to share his with them!:D, and some smellies, usually hand cream for DNiece inL, who struggles with keeping her hands nice, she works in a school kitchen, so is in and out of water all the time.
Then we came home and had a FaceTime conversation with DS, Fianc!e and her family, which was nice to see them on Xmas Day, but even nicer was a iMessage later on saying how he was looking forward to spending it with us next year.
We then went to our friends around the corner, and had Roast Beef & Yorkshires, it was a lovely peaceful end to the day, and far better than 2 couples just sitting on their own for Xmas Dinner.
Looks like we cannot set off for NY a day early as planned due to a very windy day forecast for Friday, so will have to go straight there on the Saturday.
Hoping you all had a lovely Christmas! take care everyone and ((hugs)) and spoons as needed. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club

Morning all:j:j
Merry Christmas:beer::beer:
I hope that you all had a good day yesterday, And If not then never mind its all over rated anyway:D:D Baarr humbug!:D:D
The Girls have been like bottles of pop about to go off ever since they broke up from school,
they had a really good day yesterday, But very busy, They are still fast asleep this morning.
Its a very exciting time for them. Oh to be 5 and a half again.
They got everything they asked for and much more.
Best gift for me was seeing them singing away In a manger all by themselves, The whole sung, In Church yesterday morning. They love singing, But this really was there first time doing it on there own in front of people., There were about 20 people In Church yesterday morning. They did know everyone there so it was not like they were doing it in front of people that they not know know, But it's still a big thing for them. Or maybe its not. Maybe being that young gives you more confidence,
Well I hope that you all have a lovely Christmas whats left of it anyway, Have a great new year everyone and I will post again soon. I will not leave it as long next time.
Enjoy :j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Morning
