Hi all,
Are any of the Christmas mags any good or are they just full of adverts and encouraging you to buy expensive things?
Made some xmas cards this weekend and started on an advent calendar for a friend and her son but I lost patience with the glitter when one of the cats knocked it over with his tail. He still has a sparkly bum and paws.0 -
At Christmas I usually treat myself to the Christmas Good Housekeepjng mag, Xmas Woman's Weekly, Craftseller and Simply Homemade. I use to buy Simply homemade every month, but I cant afford it now, so I'm looking forward to treating myself this Xmas. There are usually freebies to make with the crafty ones. And Woman's weekly Is full of great recipes and decorating ideas.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0

I'm a very simple guy so it's fairly easy to buy gifts for me but I can't say the same for my girlfriend.
I've been looking at romantic Christmas gifts for her on Temple Spa and cannot decide between the "Tah-Dah" and "All Bright and Shiny". Could any ladies help me pick one?
I would ask her best friend but she has a habit of telling her what I am planning
I use their shower gels (a gift from a friend) but I have absolutely no idea what most of the girl's products are/do.
Thanks :money:0 -

I'm not going to be helpful lol...
neither.. unless you are replacing something she had as a luxury item you steer well clear of make-up and perfume.. we usually have a stock of what we like to wear .. we don't wait until we have none left before replacing.
Ask her for a list of specific items she would like or listen when you are out and she says 'oh I would love this but cannot afford/couldn't justify buying it'
Christmas is for getting the things you ordinarily wouldn't get for yourself because its not necessary stuff but it might be fun or make life simpler.
My banned list includes.. make up, perfume toiletries unless Lush Flying Fox because I cannot justify spending that much on body wash for myself. Clothing/shoes unless I say 'I want this, in this size, from here.. and don't forget quidco!' .. Handbags are ok if pre-admired.. hints dropped etc.. I hate clutterous items so ornaments are out.. candles are good..
I composed a banned list because I hate feeling ungrateful when I am bought things I hate/won't use/don't fit etc.. currently ebaying 2 tops my mother bought.. they were hideous and a size too big. The £27 made will be spent on a replacement item!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

PrincessKitty Maybe wiggle is going through a growth spurt? Have you tried moving to hungry baby milk or anything like that? I don't have kids but lots and lots of experience especially with babies and working with children..My friend swapped her LO to hungry baby milk before bed and got a longer stretch of sleep! xxx Hugs. Glad u had nice tea xxNanMias - cyber granddaughter!

pigpen that is a valid point , I am quite set in my ways of certain things.. People regret asking me my favourite shower gel because I use two makes but both are around £20 plus each ( I make them last ) but i love most over shower gels for regular showers and baths - My taste in perfume isn't cheap but I always carry a bottle of it with me so tend to use perfumes for christmas in my handbag lol xNanMias - cyber granddaughter!

Also I have never bought myself those expensive shower gels yet because I cannot justify the cost lol! Luckily my auntie has similar taste but a bigger bank balance so birthdays and Christmas periods i am smelling rather nice lol xNanMias - cyber granddaughter!

Sorry this made me chuckle with the cat having a sparkly bum and paws poor dear:rotfl:
princesskitty Maybe the right one will gain me moneyI have yet to decide. Not filled my NISA fully yet so looking to move and make more on it as current rate is going to drop soon
ed It depends, I am with pigpen and JJ on this one in respect of is it a product that she uses or at least the brand she uses and just an item she doesn't normally buy for herself. If she has similar items and it's just a nice brand she has mentioned interest in I would consider if she spends more time doing her nails (all bright and shiny) or if she does like to use moisturiser/false tan style products (ta-dah). If it isn't something that she has hinted at or normally uses (or she doesn't stray far from her norm) I would consider asking her/seeing what she hints at or having a snoop what she already has and buying something to top up. Hope that helps in some way!Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Hells teeth pixtots I cant see your message because apparently I have a pop up blocker on! It is so frustrating being a computer dunce.Vx
I know that feeling! Pop up blocker drives me mad, especially now Channel 4 and ITV wont let you watch anything unless you disable it, I don't think mine even blocks many pop ups any more... waste of time... hmmph!
Anywya... back to the point, it was only to say that I've sent you a pinterest board invite
x
I've been to the dentist about the dreaded broken tooth. And the dentist didn't say it had to come outYAY! She has "reconstructed it" and I am a happy bunny
I'm now trying to find a knitting pattern... I have 3 balls of wool, 2 brown one a grey/blue kind of colour, I got them free months ago with WI vouchers... but now I can't decide what I want to knit...
xI hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.
even when it feels like your not....0
