Do not just use a converter plug that may result in a bang when you plug a 110v device into our 220v power supply, you should either buy a UK XBone power supply or a step down such as this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tacima-Stepdown-Transformer-equipment-SC5476/dp/B0009K6M4O/ref=pd_sim_ce_1 It would be able to handle the XBone. The 360 power supply is inadequate for the XBone's needs.

    Thanks.

What would likely happen if one were to replace the USA cable with a UK XBox 360 cable? Simply not work? ... or actually cause damage to the unit and/or the PSU?

A bang and a puff of smoke as the PSU burns possibly killing the console as well.

Before you buy anything - have a close look at the specifications on the power supply, namely the input voltage. A lot range from 110-240v and will happily work in the US and the UK. My laptop power supply, phone charger, camera battery charger and wife's ipod charger, all work fine in the US with a standard plug adaptor. If this is the case then all you need to do is swap the plug. If it only says 110v then you will need a new supply or transformer to step it down.

The writing is usually tiny, so you may need your magnifying glass!

As Stooby says, most new appliances will work across the full range of voltages, so only a new lead or a converter plug is required.

I was given a Spanish Xbox 360 and I just changed the plug, it worked fine. Still does :)

Stooby's comments are right- check the label for the voltages that it'll work with. Many products (laptops, phones, tablets etc) are multivoltage capable but US xbox one PSU is 110V and the Xbox one powersupply is not capable of working on Euro/UK voltages and would be damaged if you tried to use it here. A suitable step down transformer is required.
