OS DAILY - Christmad Day December 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all and a very Happy Christmas to you all !

Had to get up early to put the massive turkey in the oven, although there are 9 of us for lunch only 4 are meat eaters but my lovely old mum has bought the biggest turkey you have ever seen !!

I am enjoying the peace and quiet and have a pot of tea and will get myself some toast soon.

Having a little think about my dad and how much he loved the family getting together, hold your loved ones extra close today.

Have a great day everyone and a fabby Christmas xxx

    Morning :santa2:

Thinking of you today redruby xxx

We've got a turkey crown but without the bones - can't remember what it's called? It won't take long to cook so there's no rush to put the oven on.

Master tru left to take his GF (and her dog, Tia Pug, who was very well behaved :D ) home yesterday, they came back a short time later to watch Muppet Christmas Carol with us :D She ended up staying over, she'll be leaving early to spend the day with her family. Miss tru's BF left last night, he's got his little boy staying with him for Christmas, I've never seen a grown man so thrilled and excited :rotfl: Miss tru went to her friend's last night, I have no idea what time she got in and I don't expect her to surface anytime soon :D

I woke up at 5am, went to turn the heating on then changed my mind. We live on quite a busy road, you get used to the traffic noise and don't really notice it after a while. But this morning there was no traffic, it was competely silent and I didn't want to ruin it with boiler noise :D

Mum and dad are popping in for a drink and some cracker-pulling before they head out for their dinner.

    Have a great day :xmastree::rudolf:

  • Morning everyone - Merry Christmas!!
I'm up and showered and now I haves cup of coffee in front of the TV in my craft room before I go and wake up BF. We are going to have quick present opening here, then we have a very busy day of shuttling between houses.
We watched one of our favourite Christmas films last night - Four Christmases, and it occurred to me that our Christmas will be sort of like that, but on a smaller scale!
If I'm honest, I'm looking forward to Downton Abbey tonight and then more looking forward to the next few days off work!
Hope everyone has a lovely day, whatever they are celebrating :-)

I cooked the meat y'day, it's all in the fridge waiting to be sliced, all I need to do today is make 50 pigs in blankets, make a trifle & make a lentil roast for my son's gf who is vegetarian. I'll do all of that when I've had my porridge & then I'll prep the veg.
    Have a lovely day everyone.

    Morning All

Merry Christmas, hope Santa remembered you all.

Sat here with nothing to do, been invited out for lunch, first time in 28 years not involved with any cooking, very strange. DH & Skye still snoring.

Went to Pets at Home to get her a replacement black and white teddy (a bit Panda-ish, which is her favourite much sewn together toy. They had stopped selling them, so out came the needle & cotton again. = one happy doggie.

((Hugs)), Spoons, etc., to all, grab what you like, especially to anyone alone today.

Take care, don't try to be a Domestic Goddess, enjoy the day,

  • Good morning everyone :)

DD and friend are still fast asleep, GDD is having a snuggle with her granddad so I popped online to make my payment a day and wish everyone a very happy and peaceful Christmas.

    Morning everyone :D:D

DS woke at 3am and decided to try and clock watch for 5am. Thankfully he fell asleep eventually but lots of coffee will be consumed this morning.
Both kids are excited and thrilled with their gifts, hubby is happy with his and I have been extremely spoilt :o:o:o

  • Morning all and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Can't believe it this year for the first time ever, DH was awake at just gone 7, full of festive cheer. I thought now the youngest is 16, we wouldn't have to be awake so early. He is now sitting here, willing the kids to wake up :)

    Have a fabulous day everyone.

    :xmassign::santa2: everyone,

I got a lie in too 8 o'clock but thought I'd better get up and let the dog out.We had a very quiet Christmas Eve,though DS1 went to the pub,we took Lyla down a street where they all really make an effort with their lights and decs,it was lovely and festive, then watched Midsomer with a Baileys and ice :D
I cooked the turkey last night, and the gammon, have prepped the veg to the sound of traditional carols from round the world,so really only have to cook the pigs in blankets and stuffing, then heat the turkey up again when we're ready. DS2,Dil2b and baby,& my brothers family are coming about 2.

DH and I shall take the dog out in a bit and hopefully tire her out.She has a habit of sneaking up & standing behind you at the oven -have visions of tripping up over her and the turkey going all over the floor
Will raise a glass to our absent loved ones as usual,& thinking of others who lost someone this year ,& hugs to anyone who needs one, including the poor folk affected by the weather.

Wishing my OS friends a Happy and peaceful Christmas and all the best for 2014 x
