Previous colleague (not very reliable) asking to send him a copy of cv : will you?

Hi all,
As everybody I have some weakness (especially when I am unemployed).
I have contacted some of my contacts on linkedin and followed up by a phone since some were not responsive : there is one of my colleague (who did not responded to my linkedin message) that after our phone conversation requested that I send him my CV.
Usually, I do not see any objection in doing this but I feel (based on previous experiences) like useless.
So I would like to know if you were previously in this kind of situation and your choice (sending your cv to recruiters ONLY or sending your cv to recruiters and colleagues).
Thanks in advance for your help,
Thomas

Why would your colleague need your CV? I take it he's a former colleague. Has he offered to pass it to his HR department for you? My employer pays you a bonus if you successfully introduce someone who takes up a position with the firm and successfully completes their probation."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

He is a contractor and has a wider network than myself.
What I do not like is that he is in a kind of church (he previously invited me to join and I gently refused) and I would not like him to later make a kind of 'blackmail of reconnaissance'.0 -
Is he the kind of guy who'd do that? Seriously? You can always say No to any future invitations."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

So, if you were at my place will you send him you cv?
Is this common to send cv to colleagues?
Is it legitimate to feel like a kind of humiliation (sending cv to collegue) or it is me who has a too big ego?0 -
One of the women who used to work for me emailed me to ask if my firm was recruiting, and I asked her to send me her CV which I passed on to HR. I would do the same, but it would depend on the person helping me out, whether I trusted them and whether I thought it would actually do any good. I don't see it as humiliating in any way - why should it be? Pretty much everyone jobhunts at some point or another."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

Ok, I will send him my CV asap stating that it is regarding our previous discussion relating to my consulting service.
Thanks.0 -
I'm not sure what you think he's going to do with your CV to humiliate you. Maybe I just lack imagination.0

Previously, some people that I went to University with asked me my CVs : I sent the cv but later I never received any news from them until present.
So nothing bad happened? I appreciate nothing much happened but my point is that nothing BAD happened i.e. there's nothing to be lost from handing your CV out to people.0 -

I had some feedback from others contractors saying that had negatively affected their reputation (they now only send their cv directly to employers). In my case I cannot say that nothing bad happened since I cannot trace these CVs previously sent.0
