Did the other contractors elaborate on how sending their CVs to people negatively affected their reputation?0

They were marketing themselves as 'expert' in there field and when they gave the CV to some colleagues these last (that were in fact competitors) presented them as sub contractors.
I heard about recruitment agency that block contractors application in similar ways (in France, in UK I am not sure about the process) since they do not inform the contractor on which role their CV was sent to exactly.0 -
I think I will just send the CV hoping everything will be fine.
Thanks for the good advice/contribution and Merry Christmas.0 -
I too am confused and think I've missed something.
Weren't you getting in touch with these contacts in order to help you find work? So surely you'd expect them to ask for a cv if they think they have something?0 -
You're the only person here who knows your colleague & can judge this, whether you trust him, are confident dealing with him and want to deal with him.0

Am I right in thinking that 1. You are a contractor, 2. They are contractors and so, 3. You are in direct competition with your former colleagues for contracts? Is this the issue?
Does your CV indicate the rates you have been paid for work? I.e. something other contractors would be interested in?
Personally, I would only send my CV to someone who I had had a conversation with that went "Send me your CV and I'll pass it on to HR/project manager etc".
Whilst I can't see that any harm or "humiliation" can come to you, by sending a CV to former colleagues, I just can't see the logic in sending a CV to random people who are in no position to offer employment.I am Doll Parts

I wouldn't send my CV to any current or past colleagues in the same line of work as me. I've spent a lot of time working out what I've done and how to measure that - some of them would copy and paste into their own CVs. Why help the direct competition?0
