Is Christmas a bad time to let a house?

Are people actually looking between now and new year?

  • Would you move now if you really didn't have to?

Depends on your market. If aimed at families I doubt you would get anyone now, viewings possibly for moving in a months time.
If aimed at singles or young couples some might like to move now during the holidays in order to avoid taking time off work
  • Letting Agents told me that Boxing Day gets more hits on Rightmove, Zoopla etc than any other day of the year. Could well be the same for sales as for letting. You may have left it too late this year.

That increase could be down to all the newly separated singles looking for somewhere else to live after a stressful Christmas.

That was mentioned to me the other day.

Apparently, a family law solicitor terms 14 January as "D - Day" the day couples finally decide their Christmas "stay-together" trial has failed.

We are moving just after the New Year and local agents wouldn't even let us view properties if we couldn't move in before Christmas. Those same properties are still empty ...

There may be tenants who were given notice by their landlord recently and are looking for a place to go to. They don't really have a choice about the time of year it is.

wen I was lookin xmas didnt stop me, but I did find ads reduce. I found they peaked right after NY's. I found the best times of the year are oct/nov and march/april.
  • In reality it's only really three days that things pretty much shut down. Why should everything be put on hold for a couple of weeks. If someone needs to move, they will move.
