Be careful of e2save PriceMatch deals!

I have been a customer of e2save for quite some time now, and they have been quite honest so far. Which is why I am quite surprised at their changing attitude in recent times.

To elaborate, e2save has come up with "Price Match" deals this month. One of the key conditions in this deal is that if you miss one cashback, you miss them all. I would say this is a fair condition, as it is announced at the start. But what is unfair is that fact that e2save seem to be making a deliberate attempt to keep the condition ambiguous.

e2save have a forum on their website, where customer questions are answered. All questions about new deals, contract terms, customer queries are answered. But try posting a specific question about cashback for a price match deal and your post will not even appear on the forum!!! Smart, is it?

I had a simple query. I posted my billing date and the date my contract started - and all I wanted to know was the bills that I need to send for my cashback. I tried posting this question no less that 8 times across a period of 5 days (that discounts for technical problems on the website)

But for some "strange" reason, while all my other posts get uploaded, this question of mine fails to be posted. The one time I succeeded, the query was answered by some other user. When I replied to the post asking for confirmation from the site admin (Rebecca) there was no reply.

I believe Rebecca (Rebecca.e2save vbmenu_register("postmenu_5270282", true); ) is a registered user on this site as well. I would be willing to take back all that I said above, provided I get some reply soon!

I will post my query here (since I cannot post it on the e2save forum)

I bought a O2 contract on 12 June. On calling up CPW O2, I was informed that my billing date is 21 June.

That means that my bills will be dated as follows

Bill Date --- Connected for
============================
12-Jun --- Contract started
21-Jun --- 9 days
21-Jul --- 39 days
21-Aug --- 69 days
21-Sep --- 99 days
21-Oct --- 129 days
21-Nov --- 159 days
21-Dec --- 189 days
21-Jan --- 219 days
21-Feb --- 249 days
21-Mar --- 279 days
21-Apr --- 309 days
21-May --- 339 days

Can you please advise which bills I need to send for my cashback?

i disagree with the above post, you must send whatever bill you have exactly after 120 days. So in your case whatever bill you have on the 10th October even though it might have arrived a couple of weeks before.

Er... totally wrong! If only you READ the t&c you will find it's the first bill dated showing that "you have been connected for". I recommend you understand what is plain and clear before recommending a course of action which would (at least) cost the advisee £10 for an early claim!

ps Since these T&c and stiolen (word for word bar contact details) from Mobile Affiliates who ARE very clear about how they operate you should perhaps check out their threads on here (Coolnewmobile and Phonebox Direct). I have several contracts with ALL these companies and certainly wouldn't enter into ANY if I weren't VERY sure3 of my ground!!

I stand corrected. And also why I'm waiting to read threads on people's experiences with these new pricematch deals. Also remember claims for the pricematch deals go to (osps) crewe address. Normal OSPS deals let you claim with whatever bill you have at the 120 day mark so hence my understanding of being able to send then. Although you're right that it needs to show connected for so is the following bill received after 120 days.

This is exactly what I meant when I posted the thread

The conditions set can be interpreted either way. And I would not be surprised if you were penalised for taking it each way. 21 September would be too early whereas 21 October would be too late - so in both cases, no cashback!!!

So if any of you think the PriceMatch deal is a very attractive option, think again. As it is, I am now going around asking all my friends and colleagues at work to stay away from e2save and their PriceMatch deals.

If any company with a reputation as good as e2save is resorting to such tactics, it is certainly an indication that their standards are now falling!

I really do sypathise with that. Onestopphoneshops' t&c previously did say send in exactly four or six calendar months to the date after connection and you COULD use an earlier bill if it wasn't 28 days old... THIS is rather different! I have used both the old and new t&c and am quite confident in wehat I am doing - but also agree that they are not exactly being user-frinedly for the obvious (bad!) reasons. I also understand why you would and should give them a wide berth - a great shame in the case of E2Save whose good points USED to outweigh their bad points until recently. I have many deals with all the companies as have my frineds/relatives who I have guided through the mire. In fact, Onestopphoneshop were never as clear as E2Save. Now they are both deliberately confusing - though methinks part of that is because some bright spark decided to copy Mobile Affiliates t&c (but NOT their deals!) without actually thinking it through. Maybe they figured confusiuon is the spice of life and acts to their advantage? Surely not! Guess they don't allow for people like me though!

My daughter is going for an o2 package from E2Save, you have to say that the offer she is going for is excellent, BUT, the Ts & Cs are an absolute minefield ! One slip up and you pay the full £35 a month.

Being a total cynic - I have to say the whole thing is designed to confuse would-be buyers into breaking the Ts & Cs and losing any potential gains. Even filling in the application is misleading;- "tick the box" for the optional £2.35 a month VIP operator assisstance - NO ! - "untick the box" - the default setting is already ticked !

The best bit of all is: in the middle of the Ts & Cs there is a bit saying you must comply exactly with all the requirements. The reason given is that they are trying to keep the admin down - suggestion: just pay the £2.99 a month up front ?????? and forget the rest of the rubbish !

It's not the T&C as such I truly resent; it's the "price match" excuse for stealing them. It's simply a totally dishonest marketing ploy; the deals are very rarely as good as those E2Save are pretending (and not very well at that!) to match. In all but one case the phones with E2Save are clearance (unlike the sites they "match" and the tariffs are better on their competitors' site. Further, the t&c there HAVE been tried, tested and written BY the competitor so at least you do know where you stand.

I am confident enough to order from both E2Save and the other site - but only because I am very familiar with the t&c and have covered myself. I will also be helping my frienda and family to order and get through the minefield over the term of their contracts; I have been doing that successfully for a year now, though these t&c are more demanding and less forgiving. I would say they are STILL better than many sites who blatantly refuse to pay even when you'd done everything 100% unless you take them to court (or they believe you will). THOSE places I wouldn't use.

Basically, these deals could not exist unless a lot of people DIDN'T get their cashback. Most don't because of their own fallibility. You need to be very thorough, read it all (and make sure you fully understand it first) and extremely organised (as I am). I suppose I must thank those who aren't!

ps I always take the insurance and TMT and cancel it in time; it's worth having and very quick and easy to cancel. That is, of course, if you're organised!
