I have just got a LG smart TV with built in HD Freeview. I am looking at getting rid of Sky and would be grateful for advice on the best way to record programmes instead of using Sky HD box,
Thanks
Thanks

Humax PVR. You can record two programmes on it while watching a third that you recorded earlier or watching a third live on your tv .0

Lots of manufacturers make them.
Type PVR into Google and do oa bit of research.
Here's a quick link to get you started.

We've had three brands before, but the Humax ones are the best and lots of people on here recommend them. Ours are fine at nearly five years old, whereas the other two lasted about three years.0

Not saying Humax aren't the best but with these things it is always worth doing your research to find the product that has the features you require and you don't end up paying for features you don't want/need.0

Thanks for the replies. If I got an external HDD and connected it to the TV would that record programmes?0

Connecting a hard drive to a TV to record programmes sounds nice, but is usually not much fun. You're very likely to have ONE tuner inside your TV, meaning you're stuck watching what you're recording. Never mind the mess of a user interface you could be stuck with.
The best 'Sky box replacement on Freeview' would be the Youview box. This has an excellent interface and very good on-demand (iPlayer etc) features. If you don't need this online stuff you can get a Freeview HD recorder cheaper.0
