Think I better change the compost in my mint pot then, thanks firefly. The apple mint sounds lovely. I like to put a sprig of mint on top of my potatoes when I am cooking them. Well done on your win today.

    thanks sylv :j
I always put mint in the new potatoes when cooking them as well :j & then when cooked I finely chop chives & mint together & sprinkle on top of the potatoes when serving up,
    tastes delicious :j
if i'm doing mashed spuds sometimes I add just the finely chopped chives in the mash, stir with a fork & it makes a nice change from just ordinary mashed spuds :j

been gorgeous here all day :j

Well done on your wins FF! I think some of our posties are going to be glad of Friday and Monday off (though I don't think Good Friday is a bank holiday in Scotland?)

Been so mild here today! I've had loads of windows open because the house felt warm! Not complaining though! Looking forward to the Easter weekend! Will do my weekly food shop tomorrow I think :) Enjoy your evening! I am going to watch the soaps then Big Star's Little Star! Should be good tonight as it is Samantha Womack + daughter, Michael Owen + son and David Dickinson + grandson!

The one thing I hate about the warm evenings is the midges! I've just seen a swarm outside the kitchen window so rushed over to close it! Mind you, the midges in Scotland must have fangs because whenever we go over to the Isle of Arran, we get eaten alive by the little !!!!!!s! midges.jpg

Just won on Clipper Tea instant win. Not sure what it said they will be in touch.

You make some lovely foot firefly, never tried mixing it in with mashed spud but do sprinkle it on top sometimes with new spuds.

Just waiting for DS +DIL to arrive.

 you'll have to grow some catmint in pots & have them round
near your kitchen back door bella, midges hate the smell of it :D
trouble is then you'll get the cats coming for a high on it :rotfl:
best bet is the citronella buckets, we have them placed on summer evenings round the seating/eating areas & seems to do the trick

Congrats on the wins, F**F and Syl! The Clipper Teas one took quite a while to come for me - I won it in the first week of December, and didn't receive until January... So I think they might only send out prizes at the end of the month - at least winning mid month isn't too long a wait!! :j :j :j

Bella - Love the jelly beans chickens picture! I wish ours would lay coloured eggs like that on Easter Sunday... Am tempted to paint some and put them in the nest box, and ask Mum to go and see if they've laid any birthday eggs for her... :rotfl:

F**F - yes, lovely to get parcels, isn't it! :j :j The poor post lady had to bring one of those red bags full of all my parcels... :o

The apple mint sounds lovely, F**F - and according to that weblink it's a strong attractant for bees, which I think is important given how much they've suffered over the last year or so :)

Had some amazing homemade mint jelly at the weekend... quite large pieces of chopped mint, and tasted like either cider vinegar or white wine vinegar; it was delicious, so might have to try and make some for the Easter lamb :D

I love chopped chives in mash as well, F**F... I can usually have it without salt then because of the extra flavour, so it's healthier as well. Win-win all round :D :j :j

oooh yes, you'll have to make your own mint jellies & sauces jess,
they taste loads better than any shop made :j
yes, we get lots of bees here as we grow lots of herbs/plants
& do companion planting to encourage the wild life/bees/birds etc
but also repel the not so good bugs :j
makes for a happy garden all round :j

love the midge pic bella :D:D:rotfl:
